Black Shirt & White Tie ???

I have noticed a few well dressed blokes wearing black shirts with white ties with a very large windsor knot in it. I think it looks smart and am thinking of getting the same outfit for a christmas party next week. I would like some opinions on it. Would it look good or would I look a pleb?

I know nothing of fashion, but in my humble opinion I think shirts and ties of the exact same colour look smart.

White on black sounds a bit "footballer" come pimp if you ask me.

if you think it looks smart - go for it.

however, if you're not certain, find a way (covertly) of learning what the people you will see at the party think about the outfit, and then make up your mind.
