At the end of this month my bf is going to court for an RTA that happened about a year ago. he was driving around a roundabout about to turn off when a man in an older car speeds straight across not seeing my bf and slams into the left rear side of his car spinning him around 180 degrees. my bfs car was a write off and he had bad whiplash and muscle damage to his back which stopped him sleeping. he was off work a few days then only on light duties as he could not lift. The man that was in the other car will not admit to it being his fault and they are due in court. My bf has pictures of the accident which show who was in the fault. the only arguement the other mans solicitors had was that the pictures were not in colour... so we sent ones that were.

what i would like to know is what will happen when he goes to court and how much could he get for his accident? he has already had money for his car but in terms of compensation and any thing else? i dont know how it all works and im a little worried i would just like my mind put at rest.

my bf has a full doctors report explaining his injuries etc.

i live in london so it will be laws in this country please.
thank you in advance

You haven't made it clear why he is in court - is it a civil matter or are the police prosecuting him?

Your boyfriend won't get anything unless the other driver is found to be negligent and liable. Was the other driver charged with any driving offences?

sorry ethel, not that i know of but it is all going through the solicitors, if anything he will be charged of dangerous driving but im not sure, i really am clueless on this and the law thats why i have come to ask questions here. i could find out but not until i get home. can it go to court if the other driver wasnt charged? i really dont know how it all works
Yes, the civil and criminal processes can be kept separate. When I had my accident and claim the other party had died in the crash, but it still went to court.
