I also remember vididly a plate of strawberries and sheep's cheese I had in a dog-rough bar in the east of Turkey many years ago. No way would these stawberries ever pass a Tesco quality control test (too small, too irregular), but the taste, together with the cheese, was unbelievable.
Not forgetting a really good roast of beef, Bisto gravy, Jersey new potatoes, spade-fresh veg from the garden and my dad's Yorkshire pudding.
