Fruit labels

About four or five years ago, there was a cancer scare about the glue that fix the tiny labels to apples and pears in supermarkets.  Was the scare substantiated, and if so what was done?

I personally have never heard that before, although these days they say there is a cancer scare with loads of everyday items.  ie, deodorant - people still need to use it though!

I wouldn't worry about it!
