sealing a bath

I have just removed some really mouldy sealant from around the bath in our rented house.The sealant was cracked and letting water through which then dripped through the floor into the room below.
The problem I have now is the gap between the tiles and the bath is around 20mm in places and ordinary silicone sealant won't now work to fill the gap. I don't want to use ugly coving so what are my options now? Can I use expanding foam to fill the gap and then use silicone sealant on top of that?

I realise there's a very slim chance but, seriously, have you looked at raising the bath to close the gap? Foam filler is going to confront you with a labour of love. After it's swelled up out of the gap and cured, you're going to have to cut it back and clean it off the bath and the tile edges to allow the sealant to adhere to those surfaces. (Here, the use of masking tape will be a definite must!). So, rather than using an ugly coving, it might be easiest to fit a good-looking one instead.

I have failed to find any nice coving heathfield,all the stuff i've seen looks cheap and tacky :-(
I'm quite prepared for the work involved in using expanding foam and silicone sealant as long as the end result looks neat.
If you know of any online sellers of 'nice' bath coving feel free to post a link-it must be an online company who deliver as I am housebound.

i think your best option with such a big gap is to water proof grout the gap then silicon seal the joint twixt bath and grout.
Method --: put some cling film on the bath top before grouting then when set 3/4 fill the bath with cold water then cut with model knife to remove the clingfilm with care then apply though a small nozzle a thin bead of transparent or colour to your choice and smooth with a damp soapy thumb or finger then next day empty bath. PS clear silicon dose not show any imperfections wth smoothing down HTH Tez
