I did some shopping in Aldi last Thursday. When i checked my receipt the other day, it shows they have put through two bars of chocolate instead of one, scanning twice, next to each other on the receipt. Can they check their mistake on camera in case they wont give me their money back. How does their system work? Im reluctant to go back without me being able to prove it. ive seen how funny they can be when people return things for example.

Doc, she doesn't want the chocolate. She wants the money back!

How much are we talking about here?

...maybe it was a giant toblerone...
nextqueen...i undertsand your point, they shouldnt do that and in principle you are correct...but i doubt they will trawl through days and days of footage to give you back a pound...they will likely just say they couldnt see anything on the footage....i dont think their cameras are good enough to distinguish between one bar or 2...half the time you can barely see faces never mind count chocolate...

unless its a fair amount of cash id let it go...but if it is an error with the till, then at least they can deal with it an stop it happening again
I don't think they will have to 'trawl' through days and days of footage. The receipt will presumably be date/time stamped so they should be able to go directly to the footage they want. Incidentally, the cameras above the tills these days are usually very precise and will easily be able to pick up exactly what happened. As an aside, the cameras are there to watch the staff not the customers. Overall, a dishonest cashier can steal far more than the occasional dishonest customer..... Also Nextqueen, if you really want to follow this through, not 100% sure but I believe that you can request a copy of the footage. You may have to pay a small admin fee.
A small admin fee....lol
Seriously? All this for chocolate? I understand that money is tight nextqueen, it is for most of us I suspect, but to go to all this trouble over chocolate is beyond silly.

It's just too daft for words, really it is. Request the CCTV footage for a fee? LMAO!!!
Ohhhhh ...

Just send the extra bar to me then.
Gone In 60 Seconds.
I get sick of this happening, not just in Aldi, and bargains that don't show on the till receipt, I was in Morrisons the other week, there was a three for two offer on coffee - but when I got home I'd been charged £3.79 fior each jar. Go get your money back for the chocolate that never was - look at it this way, a bar of choc isn't going to break them, and so why woud you lie about something like that - it's not the money so much as the principle of the matter, being charged for something you didn't have.

when i went in, they took the date and time from my receipt and said they woul check their cctv. the manager phoned back and said i could have my money back, i may even have a second bar now! it pays to complain when its down to money, doesnt matter how much, when times are hard and no spare cash around, you need every penny.
You've no spare cash as you keep buying bars of chocolate....

I'm amazed at some of the comments here; the staff at our Aldi are terrific, very helpful. If this had happened to me I would not hesitate to telephone and tell them what had happened and/or take the receipt in with me on my next visit.
These things do depend so much on individual manager's attitudes which effect the whole atmosphere in a shop.
BTW their high cocoa content chocolate (not the fatty/sugary muck) is very good!

yes ive got no spare cash and buy hubby small packs of mini chocolate bars to keep him happy, they dont get eaten all at once and are much cheaper than buying a well known brand name where its both expensive and in its entirety would be munched in one go. Just because i'm cutting back doesnt mean to say cheaper treats cannot be purchased ;-p
