What an odd instruction........never heard that before. I was walking within 48hours, longer walks with the aid sticks in the next 5 weeks and from then on, away I went.
I've not had it done myself but a lady who worked for me had it and she was back at work within 4 weeks.
If you are painfree I don't think it would do any harm to do some gentle exercise or walking. I'm no doc though but I am going by my staff member. Good luck with it! :)
I agree, we used to get our folk back to normal activity except the adduction thing by 14 days post op and they would have had on bed exercises within 24 hours of the operation. Are you SURE that's what they said??
Thanks for all your answers.I am walking, its the other things that they seemed quite concerned that you shouldn't do,hoovering, cooking, ect. leave until at least 6 weeks!
I will do as much as I feel my body will let me! Thanks all x
I've had two hip replacements and have never been told not to do anything for at least 6 weeks. Was told to exercise and walk at least 1 mile per day if possible. I live on my own so just had to get on with it. I was driving and back at work in 8 weeks.
PS I was 61 when I had hips done.
