I also love the character of Cousin Isobel, played by Penelope Wilton. (Remember how brilliant she was in The Deep Blue Sea few years ago?)

Isobel is trying to practise what she preaches and she briskly dealt with the cook who objected.

Looking back the series is darker than at first and deals with serious matters, relevant to the time setting.

Yes what a shock it was when Sybil died.....I quite thought the local doctor would elbow the posh specialist out of the way and perform an emergency operation. Tears were falling.

Can't wait for Sunday evenings.

I think Sybil's husband (the chauffeur) will be shoved out of the way and Matthew and his wife will adopt the baby. Sorted.

tom will surely inherit sybil's independant wealth won't he? Or the daughter will. if there was any, which at 24 it is possible she was due to inherit from her grandfather at 25, it was very very well done. the servants reaction was just as intense and dramatic as it was a time when loyalty to their employers was part of their life.
