Is a resting pulse rate of 45 too low?

Yepp!...a bit low.......but could be normal for you.....but doubt it.

I would see your GP and have your thyroid studies done and also your heart rate, which "may" be different from your pulse.

I'm asking for Mr M sqad.. He's 68 and type 2 diabetic on insulin which he manages very well, he takes tablets for blood pressure and statins. He went to the doc 2 weeks ago after feeling 'chesty' was told he'd got fluid on his lungs due to heart failure (not sure why, waiting for hospital appt). He keeps an eye on his blood pressure at home and has just done a couple of tests. Blood pressure 150/58, first pulse rate 42 second 45.
Right........that explains a lot.........his low pulse rate may be due to heart block secondary to his heart failure.

Get it checked.

Rang the doctor who said it's due to his new meds but to keep an eye on him, if he feels unwell to phone again. He feels fine thankfully. Thanks again sqad xx
