has died, apart from his friends family, will anyone mourn his passing...
the money they stole was according to the news, equivalent to 40 million today, not an inconsiderable sum, did it do them any good in the long term... being on the run, looking over your shoulder at every turn,

There's a lot to be said for the deep, deep peace of the double bed after the hurly-burly of the chaise longue. After a while the attractions of nubile dusky brazilians might pall.

mikey.....never met my father, but my grandfather who brought me up was a labourer on the railway and I said in my initial post above , that I had a sneaking admiration for Biggs EXCEPT the physical assault on the driver.
So what you are saying them Sqad, is that your sneaking admiration of this common criminal is because he robbed a train ? I am still not sure why Biggs deserves any admiration at all, sneaking or not. Do you admire other common criminals or is it just Biggs ? Is it because he escaped from prison and do you extend this admiration for every escaped criminal ?

Just asking Sqad...just asking !
he chose to live in brazil why should we want him back.
Because he had his jail sentence to complete ! Going to Brazil shouldn't be a
"get out of jail free" card.

who's baying...
but he only came back for medical treatment, which he received even though he was in goal for part of the treatment time. he lived in brazil when he didn't need treatment let him stay in brazil when he did.
i see no moon.
I have to admit to an amount of admiration for the ingenuity of the train robbers and other heisters in the pre-computer age.

The level of detail that had to be gathered and the planning that went into these operations is quite incredible.

To clarify, I'm not condoning the act, simply admiring the project management.

well the old codger is dead... so no tears, just adieu
mikey....LOL.

Just read EcclesCake's post above which sums my feelings up exactly.

Now mikey....if i said to you that i have been watching Barclays's Bank's delivery of cash and that i have worked out a "foolproof" scheme for a successful heist worth in the region of £2 million in cash, are you in or out?

What would you say?

Would you have the b@lls to come in with me?

That is what my posts are about perfectly explained by EcclesCake.
Sqad...I can say with complete certainty that if you asked me to join you in an armed robbery, I would turn you down, and then report to the Police at the first opportunity. That I think would take the b*lls, not coming on the robbery. Of course, most criminals don't do that but I have no criminal tendencies whatsoever, so perhaps I am behave differently.

Biggs was a career criminal, not some cheeky-chappie, who was quite a good sort really, kissed babies, was good to his old Mum, etc but made one mistake and that was getting caught.

As regards people who "admire" the planning around a crime but despise the crime itself, I look forward to plenty of similar comments when Ian Brady dies. After all, it must have taken considerable "project management" to plan their crimes.
C'mon mikey...............don't take may comments too seriously............purely hypothetical.

Did you ever watch Porridge? Not a sneaky admiration for "Fletch?" Eh? deep down inside mikey.
hers a first

i agree with every post mikey has made on this thread...whats the world coming too ?.... i wanna get off
I stand by my comment and reiterate that I do not condone their crimes.

Comparing heisters to Brady is apples and oranges in my book.

I realised that you were somewaht tongue in cheek sqad !

Its just that we seem to have gone a bit soft on these criminals. I am not a hang 'em high person at all, but Biggs was just a robber.

Actually I quite liked old Fletch, and as long as we hang on to the fact that it was fiction and comedy, then that is fine with me.

The one I really liked though was "The Italian Job" That bit where Noel Coward is applauded by everybody, Warders included, always makes me laugh...about 1min 24 secs in ::::

Baz...sometimes even great minds like ours think alike !
