Electric Socket

Just bought a double wall socket,to install in new build wall, where the live neutral and earth wires go into their terminals there are no screws to hold the wires in the terminals, the wires just push in ,Is this safe?? THANKS.

That seems to be the way they do it these days. I much prefer the old screw fixed ones. You're sure of a positive connection that way, but "progress" marches on.

Good question. For simply joining two or more cables, things like "Wago" connectors are used all the time.............

I can't say I've ever come across the sockets you mention though. That doesn't mean anything of course, but I can't remember having seen any in my local wholesalers.

My only concern would be how "demountable" they are. Can the cables be removed easily?

I would imagine they're fine. Simply a matter of preference.

They seem to be common on the continent, though the difficulty of disconnecting them makes them 'use once and throw away'. Though if you have room you can cut the wire and use a choc.bloc. connector.

They do seem to like moulded/throw away connectors on the continent. Maybe they know the capabilities of their citizens better than anyone.
