Where do butterflies go in winter?

Hi Mags, I believe they either hibernate, die or stay dormant as eggs or chriysalis's until the weather gets warmer. Sometimes too early then they will die off unfortunately.
You can probably spot some butterflies in your garage on the walls or between rafters sleeping, if a sunny ray hits your garage that's when you always think to yourself 'Why is there a butterfly fluttering round in here in January?'

Peacock's are one that overwinters, they often attach themselves to the insides of garages and outbuildings, so its important not to disturb them.
