I have had gout for a long time - it is inherited, by dad had it too.
The 'rich living' myth is just that - a myth, I have the diet of a five-year-old and I am tee-total.
Mine was exacerbated by bacon, sausages, and anything with garlic in it, and avoiding those has stopped it but ...
I gave up sugar in drinks and on cereal two months ago, and I have just been away for ten days, and eaten bacon every day with no gout, so maybe the sugar was part of it? I don't know, but try eliminating some things you eat regularly, and try and analyse what you have eaten the day before an attack, you may be able to isolate and remove the cause.
