cheese toastie

ok i had a cheese toastie and cup of tea for lunch i like my tea really hot and drink it straight away boiling point of water 100c including milk 90ish so my cheese toastie melts in less than 30 secs...

When making a hotpot and you have sliced potatoes instead of mash on top of the stew, do I part boil the spuds first, fully boil the spuds first or slice them raw. Thank you.
