Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope we're all feeling refreshed and ready to face the great sparkling potential of 2014.

I've not made any resolutions this year - not yet anyway.

I wondered if you'd like to make some for me, and the site in the general.

What direction would you like the site to go in over the next year?

What do you think we could do better over the next 12 months?

What's missing from AB?

Any suggestions and ideas welcome, as long as you're not too rude about it :)

Ed, you don't look the same without your rod, that should be your new years resolution - to get it back!!

I agree with sara re the chatty in-threads - they can get very tedious for the rest of us.
... but not much you can really do about that, since we don't have a PM function on this site.
I dont mean spammers and advertisers but the well known like Legend/Tony/Nok etc on Sports. I know some here use Sports, but I dont like the 'gloat' ambience
SAB doesn't seem to be known by many of the newcomers, thank goodness :-(
How about a Chatterbank Clique subsection where people can talk amongst themselves :-)
Tambo - you are assuming that those you have named and others may want to return , you have named one who has zero interest in that.
237 - I detest that word, CB is for chatter, if it then becomes between pals then so be it. There will be a new thread along soon or start one yourself.
its their prerogative but the chase off gets quite boring.
Some love it.
A matter of minutes ago, a friend of mine, who was a member of AB, has contacted me and asked if I have read the comments in this thread. It appears that his grouse is that he has been expelled from AB without any reason having been given and alleges that all his communications to AB are being ignored.

I honestly do not know what to say to him. Is anyone able to suggest something ?
See the penultimate bullet point in the Site Rules link in the footer.
who's your friend, Alex? someone might have the answers...
I would like the facility to be able to edit own posts, I think it would be a great idea especially for typos and content therein if one changes ones mind.
There is already a chance to edit your post- it's before you press 'submit'.
Changing one's own posts after the event could lead to confusion and would make threads difficult to follow if people respond to the pre-amended version
Smart Alec ff...... Of course there is but have you calculated for the human factor??
Such facility exists on loads of similar websites, factor, and doesn't seem to cause any such problems. In my experience, it's extremely rare for people to edit their posts to the extent that they break the flow of the thread. As the previous poster suggested, it tends to be things like typos...
It could be okay if the amendments were clearly shown (e.g. with line through the removed text), otherwise I don't know where we'd draw the line as to what changes are allowed and who would monitor it
How about a 'Like' button? I sometime read a thread and don't want to contribute but it would be good to be able to show approval/support for a comment.
I liked the old stars system...............some of the begging was great.
