Afternoon, animal lovers. I don't have any animals anymore but lov'em and often watch all sorts of animal clips on YouTube. This one featuring the chicken police really intrigued me - is there anyone among you that could come up with a theory as to why two fighting rabbits should annoy the roosters to such a degree??

The second video is just a bonus for you cat lovers, no question attached, although if any of you have your own little roomba driver at home, do tell!

Well biddies it's Sunday so of course I'm off to church.

What. I am!! A friend's sister is singing with her band. It's a tribute to a singer/songwriter who died young many years ago but who still means a lot to a whole lot of Swedes. I think somehow he represents summer and Swedes can never have enough of that. Here he is with a song I've played on here before but it's good enough for a repeat. It's about love lost and wanting a moon of his own. He got one. He developed schizophrenia and disappeared from public life to eventually throw himself before a subway train. That's real - but this song is "realer"... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HInYeg78sMU

BTW jno if YOU ever want to start a band I've found the perfect name for your first hit: Nobody Knows The Truffles I've Seen - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...!
That book ^^ I mentioned turns out to be by Martine Mccutcheon's mother, I am shocked that it is so real! I finished it by the way!
Can some kind soul tell me what nights Dancing on ice and American Idol are on as I'm getting confused! thank you.
Am watching (recorded) Popstars to operatstars, it's good, I love opera, anyone else seen it??
Hi Neti Dancing on Ice is on on Sunday at 6.45 til 8.30 then 9.30 til10.00 the skate off.
Then there is a programme with Ben Shepherd checking on the contestants progress in rehearsals on Friday at 8.00 til 8.30. They're all on ITV.

Sorry can't help you with Americal Idol.
*American* even
thanks jude, as i have to down load it from the web, saw friday's one (with coleen nolan) and seemed to have missed last week's actual prog but saw the skate-off, was getting very confused. ta x
I'm laughing at Kit's snipping from the centigrade/fahrenheit...so funny!
It's been a lovely day here, up to the dizzy heights of 6°C, and I swapped my chicken suit for something a little lighter
http://www.hauntedven...inkBunnySuitAdult.jpg

...and I even pegged washing out!
I know, we're back to the snow on Wed :o(

Now neti, what are you doing asking silly questions like that? Did you listen to Gardener's question time today? (It was a tribute to the lovely and very witty John Cushnie who died on New Years Eve, he was only 66).
groan... another Sunday, another root canal, another crown, another small fortune. It's funny, this generational thing: my father had all his teeth out (possibly for his 21st, as people did way back when) and wore dentures; jno jnr is 27 and has never had a filling. I am in the middle and have a fine mouthful of teeth that are mostly individual fakes but still gnash ok. The dentist was looking out the window in the sun and pining for the almond blossom of Persia.
Pining? I reckon that with the amount you must be paying, he'll be there soon!!!!

Daughter's arrived!!! Her washing is being done!!!
he could go there just on what I paid him yesterday, neti! He is Iranian, didn't think much of the shah, doesn't think much of the current crew either, so is probably best as an exile making a lot of money and driving a big Merc.

I have seen Iran in the spring and the blossom is gorgeous. I think it's too early in the year just yet, though, so he will have to work in root canals for another couple of months.

Good to hear you are doing the mainland's washing. Did you know that in the 19th century the citizens of Manaus, which is 1000 miles up the Amazon, used to send their laundry to Lisbon?
wow I bet they didn't pop in and pick it up on the way to the takeaway!!
We were going to be painting walls today but the lecky turned up so we have ben lolling around again keeping the dogs quiet while he fits our posh new sockets.....someone obviously listens to me....I really didn't want to paint today
Hello Snippers
I could do with a bit of hot sun..... anywhere .I'm not fussy .
No heating or hot water since Friday and trying to get any sense out of British Gas is a lost cause .Finally have an engineer coming to look at it today ,we hope ! Why ,when you call them for a boiler breakdown do they insist on trying to sell you other things which you don't need .So I'm sat here in my fleece jacket .
I mustn't grumble though not when I see that horrific earthquake .At least we have a roof over our heads .
Nice to see you again Dolly and Happy New Year .
Hope all your aches are little ones today and all your teeth are sparkling .
Toodlepip for now
Yours
Cold and stinking of Shaneytowers .
Well, if it makes anyone feel any better, it's damp , dank and overcast here, and the neighbour was robbed overnight of two gasbottles - which is a nuisance cos you have to apply legally to get new ones, takes forever, luckily, we have a supply bought from departing english over the years so were able to give her a couple of empty ones. We've lived side by side for 40 yrs and nothing horrible ever happened (apart from her dog biting my child!) and now with these "people" at the back, things go missing. All her tangerines get picked off the tree when no one is looking and they can only get in over my roof which is frightening, but dare we put up broken glass or barbed wire, probably not cos the robbers may hurt themselves and we are not taking the risk. The police would probably give us a medal, but ain't risking it!!! Says something that none of our tat gets taken!!!!!!
a'noon...jno, just how many teeth have you got?

Well that's enough domesticity for me for one day...or longer. http://www.cartoonsto...u/lowres/jdun465l.jpg
I'd like some sun & warmth myself shaney, sorry it's literally blue Monday for you. Hope you get it sorted pdq, there's some more cold weather heading our way from Wed onwards and the heady aroma of chilblain cream is already over-riding the smell of chicken sh......
ay yi yi, nobody knows the truffles I've seen.... very good, Kit, wish I could come up with puns in Swedish. Good question, Robinia, I made it five. The roots are still there of most of them (the ones that haven't been extracted without replacement), but the superstructure is all Cerec

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEREC

But I can still eat, and shaney, you're quite right, there are plenty of people worse off. I'd say 'mustn't grumble' but if that was passed into law the biddie threads would die a sudden death.
Morning all or is it evening for you .I've been trying to catch up with the last thread and I've only got as far as just over 100 still got 500 to go (I think ) I love you lot despite all your ups and downs ýour pain and suffering you still remain cheerful .Does my heart good .Poor old Charlie -I feel for him and you Robi -I think everything seems and is worse when you are on your own .I will say a healing prayer for you all ,even jno's teeth !I believe more snow is on it's way ,I expect to see some piccies of home-made snowmen soon LOL .Must go shopping is calling ! bye love Dolly xxx
Well Dolly it's morning here - now. Oh heck, are you still in December biddywise, haha? Don't worry I don't think there were any mind blowing revellations, the only thing that blew for some of us were the electrics.
Charlie's doing very well, fingers & paws crossed. He still drives me potty when he's having a clingy, mithering day but I'd be lost without him & everyday I'm thankful I took the decision to have his teeth sorted, it was probably very uncomfortable for him. Even though he wasn't showing it it may have been worse by now.
The marvellous met office can't decide whether we're going to get snow or not in Derby tomorrow...well, that was £30 million+ well spent then. You'd think it was late November here today, it's very grey & still & there's a light mist swirling around....or p'raps the windows need cleaning :o)
Speaking of which - int' ye olde dayes, apart from pink windolene there was another cleaner that dried white...what was it called? It was bothering me last night. :o)

The things that bother a biddy at night... can't help there Robinia, I even forgot to clean my windows this winter before it got cold. (Think I'll send them to Lisbon.) I'm almost as cold and stinking as Shaney, the heating takes loooooooooong breaks before it goes back on and when it does go back on it never seems to reach its intended height. I'm definitely buying a thermometer today, gonna plug it into the landlord company's nobler parts after it's done here.

Alas I didn't come up with that joke jno (truffles), I just found it and who if not you sprang to mind:) I think Robi meant how many teeth did you have to start out with cos it seems like you've had 200 root canals... must seem that way to you yourself, most of all:(

Church was nice except we arrived late, as always with that particular friend. Her sister (who was performing) had asked us to be there half an hour before they started so we could get to chat for a while. Instead we arrived ten minutes after they started and my friend's explanation to her sister was "but I didn't know where the church was at!" Now in my world that's a good reason to start out early... but not in my friend's world. On the other hand, if I told her I'd been evicted (for plugging a thermometer into... and so on) I know she'd say Come stay with us for a year or so! ...that's how she is. We've known each other since we were something like twenty. Anyhoo the architecture of the church was very much to my liking; the architect was well-known Peter Celsing. From the internet:

PS the crucifix is by Bror Hjorth, who was a painter http://i50.tinypic.com/20kdfh2.jpg as well as a sculptor.
