Hi people, is anybody taking this medication ?
My OH has been prescribed it and has taken it for 3 weeks and has just had the hives from hell. Nearly crawling the wall last night with the itching that came up all across his abdomen. He has had itchy skin on his arms once before but not as bad as last night.
Anybody else suffered this ? Does it subside ? He is not taking it tonight for fear of another outbreak.
It would be interesting to hear others experiences.

this is a side effect of taking ssri antidepressants - although it should have started to subside at the 3 week point. he needs to go back t his dr tomorrow (make an emergency appointment) as he could have further reactions if he continues to take it. sometimes people have to try multiple meds before they get the one that suits them and they don't all give the same side effects. keep hoping! x
Just to say I have taken Citalopram for several years. I don't recall any side effects at the start, but everyone is different. The advice lcg76 gave is very sound. Hope your OH gets something which suits.

Cheers

I have been on Citalopram for a few years and am likely to be on it for the rest of my life. No side effects for me, but then everyone is different.
I can remember having slightly itchy hands when I started taking them. Nothing like that though. He'd better go back to the doctor and tell him.
