Scratched Throat?
10 Answers
Each time I eat chips it feels like one is stuck in my throat. When I swallow, I get a sharp sensation in my throat, but it's only painful when I swallow. Could it be that a sharp chip (I eat them around once a fortnight) is scratching my throat in the same place each time, or could it be something else?

perhaps you should stop eating chips?
Not enough information.......
Any earache or voice change?
For how long has "chips" caused this "scratching?"

Unlikely....but it "could be something else."

Sqad- no earache. Voice has got gravelly, but that is I think to do with the hiatus hernia which I have had for several years. I am on 40mg Omeprazole a day but I wonder if the potato causes more acid problems than other foods? I noticed scratching only after eating either chips or crisps, about 4 times over the past year. After eating some, perhaps 2/3rds of the way through, it feels like something is stuck in my throat- hurts only on swallowing. Sometimes more severe than others. Seems to be a sharp crisp or chip and takes a couple of days to go back to normal. Last night I also had hiatus hernia type symptoms- gravelly throat, tense jaw that I cannot relax, "tired" voice and grinding teeth. That's why I thought it may be acid linked rather than just a scratchy chip!
