An MP is sounding off saying that it is illegal and that he and someone else  made it so through a Private  Members Bill which inserted a clause 50 to that efect into some legistlation.  Sorry, I was only half listening at the time, but he was very definite.

can ynni read - 1. I do not think that climbing a statue is illegal . I think you have to damage it and that would be ( or =) criminal damage

Oh yes - there was a statue of colston in Bristol and they pulled it down and threw it in the harbour and then they were charged with criminal damage and it obviously was and the jury  acquitted and it is called a perverse acquittal as criminal damage and conspiracy had clearly been done the end.
