Hi Out there...feeling a bit down. Today was my weekly weigh in and have again put on 1 lb. making it a total of 6 pounds in a couple of months. I have doing Rosemary Connely since last Sept and managed to loose 10 kilos.
My doctor had given me pills to help keep my hunger down ( I didn't think they did) but now they have been taken off the market. (can't remember their name)

I am eating the same and exercising every day (am 70 yrs old) so I just wanted some support really. I shall keep on of course but it is so annoying to see numbers going the wrong way.

As usual I fully agree with you Wendilla. I don't want any bickering here and will run away from it as fast as I can.
ok.
As we are encompassing a gentle approach to fitness as well how about AB Bodychangers
It will be difficult to keep track of contributions etc..so we probably need to accept at times we will all be overlooked... but we should all keep popping back as you never know when something relevant will be posted... Onwards and 'downwards ' ladies...

Onwards and downwards, well said.......I shall keep that as my personal motto !!
Can I join as well please? I'm trying hard to lose weight, but am a bit depressed because I've put back on 3 lbs after 4 weeks of really trying hard! I'm also diabetic, type 2 but on insulin, and I was warned that a) I'd probably put on weight and b) I'd find it harder to lose it, so far that's been true. Exercise is difficult as I'm suffering with a really bad back; I know losing weight will help it, but it's a bit of a vicious circle right now. I'm not following any paticular diet, just trying to eat sensibly and cut out snacks, biscuits, chocolate etc. I'm also having help from my GP practice - the NHS
are running some scheme for overweight people, and I see the practice nurse who gives me advice, and weighs me once a week, which I was finding quite helpful. So if anyone can help motivate me, I'll happily encourage anyone who needs it as well!
wecome BLD think xstitcher must be away at the moment. yes it is more difficult when you are diabetic but keep reading and someone with the same problem will come back to you . I just cut out all the junk and eat healthy and try and have variety.

Welcome on board bld, the more the merrier.

I think one very important thing in loosing weight is to organize your meals, snacks and exercise and stick to your schedule as much as you possibly can. I have found grocery shopping much easier since starting. Everything revolves around fish and chicken with just the odd meat dinner about 3 times a month. You can surely borrow weight loss cook books at the library to find out which suit you best.
I have now been stuck with 2 kilos up for the past 2 weeks so don't let it get you down. If you want to get rid of it you will ....... eventually and hopefully all the support from this lovely group will give us the mind set to keep going. I am cutting down on the sizes of my meals. They were sneaking up in size week by week. I also suffer from a bad back and have always done so even when I was a Twiggy size, but am having less problems now because of the exercises. Don't loose heart but be determinded.
Is there room for one more?
I've managed to lose a kg over the last week and a bit.Nobody in my family knows my weight but you're all being brave so I shall do the same - I'm currently on 105kg ( too scared to put that into 'real money' ) and my first target is to get below the 100 kg mark.

I really am trying to change my whole way of eating and cut out all the rubbish but it's very hard.Just had a minor victory by forcing myself to stick to a bowl of homemade soup and wholemeal bread for lunch instead of the junk food I wanted. Now I'm nice and full.

I think this thread is a great idea, we can get the support we need and keep each other going.
Thats right Xstitcher. I find I get on much better when I shop for the whole week then I don't have to wonder what to have as that is when you are likely to have a meal via the chinese delivery. Hello YINGYANG AS X STITCHER said if you organise your meals for the week it is much better.I never told anyone how much I weighed but I am so proud now to boast what I am down to and you will do the same just keep it up .
Hi, Wendilla.

I've always done a meal plan and weekly shop but the problem is by thursday or friday i look at what I bought for that night and think ' I just don't fancy that tonight' and so we end up getting a takeaway or the old standby - frozen pizza and all my good intentions get blown.

My biggest problem really is just willpower and having to accept that I need to eat a lot less of some foods. I'll get there though..

Hi YinYang, I started out as 103 so I know how you feel. Getting to 99 was like conquering the world. I can say with hand on heart that stopping smoking was a walk in the park compared to loosing weight. I was eating healthy meals but too much of them and then there was the snacking.....healthy but...need I say more...thought not.
The secret is to get a hold of a good weight loss book because without that you are just doing hit and miss and you will also be surprised at what you can eat and even snacks. After a while raisins and carrots seem to be very tasty believe me, but do try and get ahold of a good book. Whatever works for you is best for you, despite the advise you will receive.
I told my family my plans and they have and are a great support to me. We are so needy for praise while doing this. Good luck to you, Onwards and downwards !!
Hi Xstitcher, it could be that you are eating the wrong type of food for your body type. Do you know your blood group? There is an amazing book which I swear by, called "Eat Right for your Type". I am O blood group (like many) which means I struggle to metabolize wheat and dairy. Since cutting these out I have got rid of a lot of aches and pains as well as weight.
I have also tried the lemon detox diet, which is amazing in proving to yourself that you don't need to eat half as much as you think you do! It also helps get rid of physical problems which have been cause by eating the wrong type of foods/alcohol/caffeine. It's hard, but it's only a few days of your life, and it changes the way you think about food forever.
Give those a go if you are stuck, I highly recommend them. :D

I have just written the editor and praised them for AB so I will wait a couple of days and then ask for a permanent sticky. I haven't seen the other sticky that I asked for have you?

It's dinner time here (we're an hour ahead of you) so I will be signing off for today.....what a lot of people have showed up....who would have believed that we just started all this last Sat.
Hi xstitcher if you look in suggestion for last saturday you will see what the editor replied when I asked when we first spoke of this on Saturday. It's still on front so won't be difficult to find.

Hi Wendilla, Yes I found it. You seem to really know your way around this site. I am still taking baby steps. My computer "skills" are self taught so they're full of holes of ignorance.
Hi xstitcher don't believe it. I am self taught. When my daughter lived here before she got married she offered to pay the phone line to have a computer and I said there are no computers coming in this house. That was 4 years ago and she has never let me forget what I said as I had only heard the bad side of them then. Now she asks me how to do things.

Hi wendilla, Yup it was the same with me except it was my husband that brought it in. Now I am teaching and helping him. We are just sooooo clever eh!
When I get a problem I simply go into AB confess that I'm a sliver surfer and help is at hand immediately. There are some perks to being a person of a certain age.
Morning Losers (in the best sense!) I did weigh myself on Wed.still 83kgs. am only going to set myself a goal of a kilo per 2 weeks -that is approx.1lb. a week Chocolate and Cappuccinos being my downfall .You all seem pretty determined to me so good luck everyone -onward and downwards ! I'm too old to remember all your names and details but I'll try -are you out there loobylou ?we're all batting for you ,each and everyone . I'll try to make it a Skinnycinno in future .xxx

Hello down there Dolly et al, here is a little tip. If you are able to, get doing something immediately after eating (sitting at the computer) for about ½ hour. If you were still hungry after eating this gives your food time to settle and that hunger will be gone....many times it's just your head teasing you.
