Mum's were Nain & Taid (welsh) Dad's were Grandma & Grandpa.

Mum's side were granny and papa
Dad's side were granny and grandpa.
Have kept that with our grandkids.
My hubby wanted to be called grandad, but the eldest kept calling him what sounded like 'curtains'. So I got my way and got changed to papa.

Sometimes, my grandlings slip up, and call us Oma and Opa, they forget which of us are English, and which German.

Never knew my granddads as they had died before I was born and both my nans have died since.

They were both nan or nanny, nanny in Wales and nanny in [village she lived in], although both Welsh, when I was little. Had a Great Nan as well.

On my father's side he only had a step mother who we HAD to go and visit - say no more.

Paternal side I have no intetest in. Matrnal side are nan and grandad but only grandad left now. And he doesn't have a clue who I am.

I was also lucky enough to have two Great grandmothers until my late teens, Oldest was 101 when she passed away,

Never met my dads mum and dad as they died before I was born. My mums parents were grandpa and grandma.

Unfortunately no longer have parents. Their parents were also all dead before I was born no never called them anything apart from mum's mum etc.
