Have to get into all this diet stuff --never had to do it before.
I think I'll start buying fresh fish and see how i go. I hate the smell!!!!
pusskin - the calorie bit doesnt make sense. 5% of the tin cant be 100 calories, otherwise the whole tin would be 2000 calories! lol
Smowball - I can only quote Tesco sardines (all I have in the cupboard) -

Calories per tin -
...in sunflower oil - 184
...in tomato sauce - 196
...in brine - 144
Ahhh L I K, that sounds more like it - thankyou!

pusskin, we seem to have sussed it and yes, does seem like a healthy and pretty low calorie lunch.
pusskin, if it smells it ain't fresh and don't buy - make sure the eyes look glassy and the skin bright and fresh too
what about the horsemeat content, LieInKing?
There's neigh horse in fish, DT :-)

Ha ha , wishing I hadnt mentioned fish now, but have taken it all onboard.
The eyes of the fish freak me out! lol. Thanks for replies and giving me a right ole chuckle folks x
I love tinned fish .Sardines and mackerel .
The Sainsburys skinless and boneless ones in olive oil are best.
Oh yes there is - what about this (not that you will find many in a fishmongers or saddleshop:

Just had an email from Waitrose Managing Director reassuring me about their beefburgers, probably because they use Dalepak which was one of the companies involved with the naughty burgers...............
DT - sorry, I was on the wrong tack...
Better not mention that I have eaten the eyes....too long in China. By the way, the sweetest muscle on a fish is the one under the eyes, the cheek one. Think about them going glub, glub, glub and how much it gets used. Seriously, try it next time with a salmon, trout, mackerel......
What's that to do with the price of fish, crafty?
Glad we reined you in LIK on that one! :-)
Nothing whatsoever Mick :-)

I love sardines in tomato sauce, on toast and nice over pasta too.

Smoked mackerel as well, like the vacuum packed ones with the peppercorns on.

I love tinned salmon as well.
