A friend (who has been a veg grower for years) has had a crop of potatoes that are semi-transparent & too hard to eat after cooking whether boiled or slow roasted.
Any ideas as to what the reason might be? he doesn't remember the variety name, they weren't his usual choice. Thanks.

D'oh it's gone slow again, grrrr

Weather report - bright sunny spells, some clouds, light rain, chilly. 11C

So sorry to hear Mr s' had a setback shaney, I'm sure it's just a blip, these things always seem to happen. Keep your chin up, one day at a time. x

I love the stitched sardines Kit, hahaha. I can't find any instructions tho'.

That's a snazzy computer Vinny, will it make the toast ? :o) I can't make my mind up about a laptop, I 'spect I'll have one eventually, it's not priority while this one works, which it is doing much better now it's had a good sort out.

Lovely tops Lottie but Evans don't cater for stickwomen, tut, it's discrimination I tell ye. I've got a couple of warm woollens I bought in a spring sale, didn't wear & forgot about until recently, so that's good. Still need a barrow-load more stuff tho'.

Don't worry about new home yet, we'll stick with this a while, I reckon 600 won't make any difference & I'm getting used to the smell of chips :o)

grrrrrrrrrrr.... took 2 goes & about 5 mins for that to appear
HI all ~ listening to Derby on a Winning streak. 2 - 0 at half time.

Robi did you get my post about not being able to get on here at all because of my short cut saying it wouldn't let me in. Very strange.

I've actually put my plants that Fuschia says should be put inside, into my shed. Cant remember what they're called but they are always for sale when it's time to put bedding plants out. Ever so popular, what the devil are they called :o~

Sorry to hear Mr S had a set back Shaney but, Ifremember my Mum had a bit of one when she bled quite a bit but didn't have to have a transfusion luckily. They just kept here in bed a bit longer. I went and did her hair for her with my hot brush hoping that that would make her feel better as she was always particular about her appearance.

Hope Mr W is recuperating well and beginning to get out and about.

I shall have to get going and do my ironing I can't stop yawning.
Think I'll mash first. Later 'gater(s)

P>S> just thought of the flowers they are geraniums :o)
Hello all, my tum is playing up (colicky) so i am chugging mint tea and taking it easy. Its only stress and a blooming nuisance. Mr W is doing nicely thank you.
Oh woofy, do take care of yourself!
Thanks neti, its fine...I am one of those people who only get the stress symptoms when the stress comes off...been looking at some cool purple cords in M and S

http://www.marksandsp...2Cp_10%3APurple&page=
They look very nice. In the late 70's I had a fab purple corduroy trouser suit and I loved it but has to remove the waistband (as I had to with all my trousers then to make then comfy!) Can't see me in purple now though!

Must say that this year I've gone for more female type clothes instead of the straight unisex t-shirts, sweatshirts etc. Maybe it's cos I've weight and I look better!! I still wear jeans and trousers all the time.

Hope your tummy is settling down. Yes, the stress always comes out after the event.

Don't you all just wonder somethings "How much more can I take" but you plod on regardless, I do, and when things are bad I just go one day at a time and then suddenly it's not half as bad!
*lost weight*
How's mr N's knee doing, you haven't mentioned it a lot after the operation Neti - so... no news is good news?

He he Robi I had actually kept those tinned sardines for you as you're always on about custards and sardines *yuk* but as Mr S couldn't stop grumping about pickled herring but not being allowed to eat any I thought Shaney had better take a look at them for inspiration instead. I found them again but no instructions - they're art http://nicolegastongu...um/72157594343700268/

hahaaaaaaaa...can't stop laughing at the knitted tv dinner Kit, some of them actually taste like old wool :o)

Neti I reach that 'can't stand another minute/hour/day' point way too often but it's sometimes then that things actually change...until the next time,ha. I feel the same about clothes (looking at feminine things) because I've put weight on! I don't want to hide under layers & coats quite so much...trouble is we need them to keep warm now, grrr...
I love purtle but I can't wear it next to my skin, it washes me out.

Jude if you sent me an email I didn't get it.
I wear loads of purple - love it. Those trousers are nice Woofie, but like Neti I don't do waistbands, perhaps because I haven't got a waist. I am better in low rise trousers or those grown-on waistbands. I am not pear shaped or apple shaped I just am well........... banana shaped is the only fruit I can think of that I resemble, and since I fractured my spine I bend in the middle too!!

Love to all of you. Take care.

So right about the stress thing. You plough on through difficult times and as soon as it eases then bang, down you go. Last year was just so awful for me and this year I have felt absolutely like sh1t!!

Both of us have slept through most of the day. We both felt tired and washed out and went back to bed mid morning for a couple of hours sleep.

Cold tonight init. Winter draws on!

Hopefully, Shaney has found Mr S. feeling a bit better. I will look in tomorrow to catch up.

Hi Lottie - will reply to your mail tomorrow, I was unexpectedly busy today..
Just going to listen to Take That's new song for the umpteenth time today before I toddle off to bed. I just need to clear my head, I've been watching Russel Watson on Piers Morgan & I wish I hadn't really, it was a bit gruelling for this time of day... I've never been a fan of his but he's been through some tough stuff & some of the things he said & phrases he used touched a nerve...

love it...

bought the cords...am now looking at these boots, http://www.marksandsp...2Cp_10%3APurple&page=
but I will need to try them on in the shop as I have funny feet. Tum settling again.
Yes I do wonder how much more but there is no choice or hop off point so you put your head down and keep going don't you? Chatting on here helps loads and every day at the end of the day I make sure that I sort of review the day and notice the improvements. They say don't look back but i think you have to look back down the mountain to appreciate how far you have climbed...if you just keep looking up and forward, all you see is more hardship and rock face...the view is behind you...on which philosophic moment its me for the sack...nighty night
Morning all.

Yes woofy I like those boots.

and lottie, I do waistbands now, in fact can't do hipsters anymore. That's why I love the M&S jeans that I bought, they are actually up to the waist, and feel much neater. I always cover my waist with a top.

Mr N's knee is fine, it's the rest of him that aches! Well it's getting chillier now so the ole bones will start hurting. Have just sorted out some pj's as it was chilly in bed last night. I bought a pair of "keep feet warm in bed" socks from Matalan, and have them on now as it 20°, and I am getting excited about plugging in the fire insert, as I love it. Have told family that one weekend soon we are having a firewood chopping day as there is loads of old wood around but needs sorting!
Ooooh, nice boots. Unfortunately, I can't really do heals any more. My clogs are apparently on their way, as are the two new sweaters. Mr LL knows about the clogs, will have to gently tell him about the sweaters (not that he ever says anything about me buying clothes, bless him). I have spent a lot just recently though. Four new pairs of trousers, two sweaters, one fleece and the clogs. The free fleece I got from Cotton Traders is just lovely, warm, snug and long. Here it is. Still amazed that it was a free gift instead of the dressing gown.

Hope things are OK Shaney xxxxx

Off to buy some bluebell bulbs shortly. I have opened up a space between a couple of trees. There are some bluebells and aconites there already, but I want to add to them.

See you later

Morning Netti!!

I can't do 'hipsters' as such, just the trousers that fit just below the navel so to speak. Waistbands just don't do up. 14/16 trousers with 18 waistbands are needed, and of course the trousers mustn't be jodpur like. Still I have my sewing machine now!!

morning...can everyone please stand aside while I beat sweti to a pulp, 20C???!!!! And that requires socks??!!...let me at her <<<thwack>>...it was 2C here when I first went outside today, yes, that's TWO £$%^&*# degrees centigrade.

Oh spooky Lottie, I'm wearing a fleece very similar to that right now, (I've been in & out of the garden, pegging out) except where hers is lighter mine is navy. I've had it for yrs, it's a Peter Storm

Love the boots woofy, that's as high a heel as I can manage on a good day.
2° Robi, you lucky thing, some people just don't know when they are well off so here's a <<Twack>> back!!

That's a nice looking fleece lottie, I have a white one which I dyed pale pink to match my uggs, trouble is I aren't wash it as the colour will fade!! (I didn't want pink uggs it was just that was all I could find in TJHughes two years ago) Lots more in the shops now but just didn't have the weight!

I can't wear heels much now, hurts the ole ankles. I do have a nice pair of knee high leather boots with a 3" heel which I wear with my trouser suits and special outfits (there's that word again) for occasions, but after a couple of drinks I usually take then off to stagger home!!
damned typos - * I daren't wash it*
yes i'm iffy on heels but they look like they might be okay. We are having a sleepy day here and all the better for it. My head and tum are behaving themselves again and DH is making slow steady process....lovely sunny day but a frosty start this morning but DRY which i think is a big plus.
