Hi - haven't been on here for a while so hope everyone is well. Have been trawling through websites trying to get info on organising my own funeral. I have no family in this country and just want my remains disposed of as simply and cheaply as possible. Maybe in shroud, cremated and scattered in woodland. I am an organ donor and have explored leaving my body to medical science but don't want to go down that route as there are too many reasons why they don't except bodies for it to be an option for me. Thanks.
Why are you plumping for a solicitor as executor? Have you no friends or acquaintances who'd do it for you? Just a thought, although maybe you're not bothered about where your money goes once you've gone!
When my friend's husband died (in hospital) his body was taken directly to the crematorium - no funeral service. There was a memorial service about a month later.
Barmaid, I am sure you are right but I thought the witnesses had to witness the will in the presence of each other as well as in the presence of the testator? Is this new?
thank you that's interesting.....theres a Dorothy Sayers book where part of the story hinges on the fact that two maids are asked to witness a will and they are set up to see the testator in a mirror but she can't see them...much is made of the fact that they must both be together and in the same room as the testator
hc, it came up on here in another question and I can't remember exactly but apparently someone has to claim the body and in effect take responsibility. If nobody does then the state has to handle it.
