Policeman in Ian Tomlinson trial

I have no connections with the Police whatsoever. But I respect their work and I am appalled that PC Simon Harwood has gone on trial over the death of Ian Tomlinson. From what I saw of the filmed footage, Tomlinson was being a pain by deliberately walking slowly to hold police up during what was an extremerly difficult time for them. He didn't die there and then but some time later, so it wasn't like the push killed him. The push didn't look severe either, so for someone to die as a result of that they must have had other health issues. Seems to me the system has given in to the eer-increasing blame culture in British society today. A decade or so ago and the claims of Tomlinson's loved ones would have been dismissed out of hand, and I hope that's the outcome of this trial. You?

how can you tell from a video that what someone was doing was 'deliberate'? This would be the officer who'd had assault problems before and retired in order to avoid the procedures?

Amazing that that push can be termed 'an assault'. If you were trying to do your job in stressful circumstances and someone was deliberately dawdling in front of you, I bet you'd give a shove too. And that's all it was.

beat him to death? Where is the evisdence that Tomlinson was beaten to death? Or indeed was in any way harmed other than by that shove?

Say the situation had been reversed. A police officer had been pushed to the ground and had died as a consequence of the assault. There'd be someone facing a murder charge

To be fair flpflap.....he was also hit in the side with a truncheon and that caused internal bleeding confirmed at post mortem by experts.

However....I cannot see how that "assault" could have caused a normal liver to rupture, but the experts disagree.

are you saying that if you have peripheral arterial disease and your walking is restricted it is ok for the police to give you a good whack if you happen to be in the wrong street at the wrong time

He'd have got away with it if someone hadn't filmed it on their mobile phone and put it on YouTube. Before that, the death was covered up.
