having read ynnafymmi's post below about great expectations, in which she asserts it's the best film ever made on 4 separate occasions, i was wondering what YOU thought the best film ever made was - it may or may not be your favourite film, but what is it for you?
I guess it depends on your likes & dislikes - very subjective. I mean, I will often watch "Pulp Fiction" which is entertaining & ingenious but I don't like "Reservoir Dogs".
Schindlers List
The Shawshank Redemption
The Green Mile
The Great Escape
The original Lord of the Rings Trilogy
I can watch all of the above again and again.
of course it's subjective, that's why i put YOU in capitals in the Q.
For example the film ive seen the most is back to the future. However, i don't think it's the BEST film ever made.
evadora, it's cheating to have so many :)
I know what you're saying Davebro, but I like all Quentin Tarantino's films... first time I watched 'from dusk til' dawn' I had no idea what it was about.
Best British; The Third Man.
Best American: Casablanca.
Best Japanese; The Seven Samurai.
Best French: The Orphic Trilogy.
Best German; The Lives of Others.
to many to say just one film, let's say directors instead erm david lean
james cameron, sergio leon, martin scorsese, steven spielberg, gawd..tarantino kubrick, coppola ridley scott....
I'd certainly say that there's a great deal of difference between my favourite movie, and what I think is the greatest movie I've ever seen.
I think the only one that encompasses both catorgories is the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and no bednobs, I consider them one huge movie in three parts, so I'm calling it as a single entity.
Webbo, everything was incredible: the music; the actors and acting; the scenery; the cinematography; the plot/story etc...and, of course, Claudia Cardinale!
