Freezing Saturday afternoon so we are warm watching Banned Songs by the BBC that were on BBC 4
I always thought Lola by the KINKS was about a prostitute , it was about a transvestite although it was banned for that, it was because it originally contained the words Coca Cola ??
It's really worth a watch , the BBC 'banned' all the Death Songs like Tell Laura I love her and Johnny Remember Me
I want your Sex by George Michael

Canon.
Think we could take anything we like out of a song. What about Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon" by Neil Diamond. Is he really hoping he'll be "the man".
Andy. Well, I never knew that! You live and learn.. :-)
Lady Willpower was the other one.
Summer by Bobby Goldsboro. Hm.
I don't think that is right, Zacs. Marley said he substituted the word 'police' for sheriff to get it past the censors and the song is about justice. One of his girlfriends claimed it was about him being against her taking the pill.
All around my home town
They try to track me down....
I don't see much wrong with Young Girl. He believed she was of age because she looked and acted older than she was. He fell for her but found out her age before anything happened and sent her packing with a flea in her ear. He didn't fall for because she was underage. I think a lot of young men have been in that predicament.

A whiter Shade of Pale was surely about drugs?
Golden Brown
Peaches
pity he says "Better run girl" when he's the one who should be running. Unless he knows he's the threat.
the Beeb banned George Formby singing When I'm Cleaning Windows - "disgusting little ditty"
It’s true Baz
Dr Hook were great ones for little innuendos.

"When you're in love with a beautiful woman, it's hard" and "if i said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me?"

Always make me chuckle
I always liked those Dr Hook records, Darcey ;-)
Leonard Cohen, too. "I kiss the dew on your thighs." "There were so many people you just had to meet, without your clothes." Well they lay down beside me, i made my confession to them." "And remember when i moved in you." Etc, etc, etc.
jno and with my little stick of Blackpool rock.
In the US, Louie Louie by The Kingsmen was banned, even though the lyrics are completely unintelligible, thanks to the singer's bad teeth, combined with a bad hangover, and the microphone dangling from the studio ceiling, and out of his reach.

And Rumble by Mink Wray was also banned because it was feared it might encourage teenage rioting - and that was an instrumental!!!

(It's on a TV ad now, so times must have changed a bit . !!!!)
Bobbi - // A whiter Shade of Pale was surely about drugs? //

Apparently it's actually about seduction, which is obviously far worse!!!!!!!!!
And Benny Hill:

Now Ernie loved a lady,
A widow known as Sue,
She lived all alone in Lily Lane,
At number 22.
They said she was too good for him,
She was haughty, proud and chic,
But Ernie got his Cocoa there,
Three times every week.
