/// At present, gays and lesbians are allowed to enter civil partnerships, which offer most of the legal protections of marriage. But the term ‘marriage’ is not used.///
In a time when more important matters should be on politicians minds, why is the term 'Marriage' that important to homosexuals, that politicians find the need to change the law, specially to accommodate them?
ho·mo·sex·u·al·i·ty

noun
sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex.
I'm a straight man of 51 and I'm perfectly ' tolerant', - no actually 'tolerant' is too condescending a word to use implying that there is something to ' tolerate'- I am perfectly happy and overjoyed when anyone regardless of sexual orientation finds their perfect person to share the rest of their lives with- because by and large it's none of anyone else's business who calls who their 'husband' and I don't see why the straight community seem to think they ' own' the right to get married and tell which groups can and cannot marry- THAT is not equality of any sort.
I agree with NOX, if a "couple" want to marry in a Registry Office, Church, on the beach in the Seychelles, in scuba outfits under the Red sea or jumping out of an aeroplane with parachutes, then they should so be allowed.
>>>>THAT is not equality of any sort.<<<< some people very clearly dont want or are not interested in equality and would rather just stick to their bigoted ways, why should gay people be happy!
It actually sickens me to read some of these replies.
