/// At present, gays and lesbians are allowed to enter civil partnerships, which offer most of the legal protections of marriage. But the term ‘marriage’ is not used.///

In a time when more important matters should be on politicians minds, why is the term 'Marriage' that important to homosexuals, that politicians find the need to change the law, specially to accommodate them?

I have been to a gay marriage in a church and I didn't feel as uncomfortable as i thought i would..(couldn't wait get away though). The two "blokes arrived in a pony and trap, both has expensive Armani suit and even the pony had pink ribbons all over it's body. The service was just as boring as any marriage service, but the congregation was perhaps a little "different" in that at times i wasn't quite sure which gender that i was addressing.

Mrs sqad said that it was nice, tasteful and she enjoyed herself.

A woman's thing I suppose......;-)
Morally sound? Really? What has morals got to do with anything?
Oh that's certainly a definitive argument, then..........

I would probably refer to my 'wife' were my partner and I to get married.....and no doubt she would refer to me in the same way, to third parties.

my friend refers to his partner as his husband, as the legally married in another country.
redhelen, don't list too many defects in one post, eh? ;o)
Doc.....just look at the contributors to this thread.......almost entirely women and to me that shows that straight men, on the whole, are less tolerant of homosexuality.

I thought that ummmm, where does being gay or same sex marriage step on the toes of morality?
-- answer removed --
That is simply a matter of Statute Law and quite easily reversed/amended........Gay Marriage seems to be a much more emotive topic amongst people whom it simply won't affect.
really Sqad? by "on the whole" you think the majority of straight men are less tolerant?
Kosmos....maybe......but don't be too sure.
