I hadn't heard the story before. Reading through I'm really shocked her sentence is prison rather than a secure hospital. She was (or is) clearly not responsible for her actions at the time.

It might just be you. Killing your own child, especially to spite another (quote : ‘I’ll make sure you pay for this for the rest of your life’ ) is number one on my list of reasons why the existence of Hell would be a good idea.

to be honest, im surprised at my own reaction which is one of terrible pity for her. I'm usually right there with the outraged brigade in wanting the harshest sentence possible for something like this. But all I see is a woman who reached rock bottom and couldn't see a way out. To fail in her own suicide and having to live with what she's done is surely a sentence in itself?

12 years? Is that all? 50 years ago she could have expected to take the swift walk to the gallows, altogether a more merciful release.

Whatever happened, why kill the innocent child? Surely she should have been reason enough to move on, and start a new life.

That's the thing em, you're looking at it from a sane and sound mind. I believe she wasn't and reasoned out in her head she was doing what she believed was the only way out.

Yes. 12 years to reflect that she & she alone is responsible for the death of her baby daughter, a beautiful little girl who deserved to live her own life ( sorry as I am typing this I have tears in my eyes) When this woman gets out of prison her gorgeous little girl would have been a 16 year old teenager but sadly had no chance with a mother like that. So yes it probably is only you who feels terribly sorry for this terrible woman.
