Absolutely - But winding up the easilly lead into vicious violent rages is exactly the tactics of people like that He leads you by the nose into one of your anti-muslim furys and you're just too angry to see it. Nothing he'd like more than for you and YMB to set fire to a few mosques I'd say Nothing messes with his agenda more than local muslims serving tea and...

Just for clairty, do we know through which means Choudary influenced the Rigby killers?
I know that the link between them is pretty well-established, but were they members of his cult or did they come across his writings and speeches through the internet and other media without directly meeting him?
Doesn't really matter all that much, as Choudary is unwilling to condemn the Rigby killing, but it might have implications for all the publicity he's been getting.

\\\\\I wish I hadn't started this post now !\\\
No! no!...it has been an interesting thread with left and right wing views.
A lefty has been given a "Best Answer" by a lefty...par for the course.
80 posts for AB.
A thread well worth the effort.
HOWEVER......over the past 8 years, this argument concerning Islam has raged in various headings..."the effect of Islamisation of the West" being the mosy popular from the start. I fear for the West being overtaken by Islam, but JTP and other left wingers, by their cogent and well rehearsed and oft repeated arguments have guided me to their way of thinking.
Islam poses no threat to the future of the UK.
I am beginning to think, that I have backed the wrong horse.

I would like to ask all those who say they are not afraid of this man or of any threat to this country the likes of him and his followers care to make, how far are you prepared to sit back and hope in time we will all be living side by side in a peaceful and friendly Britain?
Do you honestly think that is going to happen or are you finally prepared to admit things could get very much worse?

Choudary was entirely predictable in what he said and didn't say. And the reaction is also sadly predictable and kneejerk.
He doesn't really represent anyone but himself. He has no constituency. He has no value. He is a nobody. The BBC presented him, with a wonderful intro by Creseda Joy-sticks, Humphreys expertly dangling a noose and he expertly refusing to step into it.
It was a piece of theatre not real news. He was the pantomine villain, and the audience dutifully hissed and booed (as in the 80 posts before this one).
You really shouldn't let yourself be manipulated by a religious nutcase, but unfortunately you are.

I'll try and answer your question, as I directly said I wasn't scared of him.
Put simply, there's always been nutters around. There's always been people who would have me killed, and for all of the extra apocalyptic ideology that the more fanatical Muslims have, when you actually speak to them in reality they're just the same as all the other religiously-deluded nutcases.
The clip you've shown is from a programme about Luton that very seldom gets shown in full. The rest of that programme features the reporter speaking to dozens of Muslims who loathe and despise the fascists she is talking to in that link.
As for living 'side by side'... No, I don't think people with Choudary's ideology will ever live side-by-side with average Britons, because they don't want to. They're too fixated on altering everybody else's lifestyle.
Does that mean I'm quaking in my boots over what Anjem Choudary's next move will be? Nope. I'm used to fanatics in the media railing against my lifestyle and telling me how much they'd like me to die - it's par for the course if you're gay.
Vladimir Putin? He scares me. Choudary's just one of a long line of bigots with small brains and big amibtions. I hate him but I'm not scared of him.
I think if the government pulled funding for the faith schools which turn a blind eye and fail to educate them properly, that would be a tremendous step in the right direction.

As a side note. I listened to the interview on iPlayer. Choudary chose his words very carefully and did not say anything that could get him into trouble. Immediately following that interview Humphreys went to Lord Carlisle for a reaction. The recording on iPlayer has had to be edited and Carlisle's words are missing.
Gromit, //You are allowed to be repulsed by him. Just don't make the mistake of believing he represents anybody other than a minibus load of fellow nutters. //
Some of whom are prepared to butcher innocent men in cold blood - and do it! Open your eyes, Gromit, and your ears. It's a bloody big minibus!

I think one could have said the same regarding a little 1st World War Corporal, and look how many he managed to represent?
Much more than a minibus load of fellow nutters.
