Britain's most eminent cross-dresser turns up for a Palace investiture in a suitable outfit that matched his prominence as thus. Thankfully we have such people, who have the courage to follow their convictions so what he wore doubtless didn't come as any shock to Charles.
I have read your posts, Sqad....diligently. Grayson Perry went to the investiture dressed appropriately for Grayson Perry as you would for Sqad and I would for Gness.
Your Little Bo Peep comment is childish and silly....and no part of the discussion or difference of opinions.
I may be wrong but I do have a sneaking feeling that if he had indeed hired a morning suit, Prince Charles may have whispered 'Thought you may have dressed up for this'.
divebuddy, I am willing to bet (although we'll never know) that Grayson Perry ran his proposed outfit past the Palace's etiquette and procedures department before he chose it. Being a transvestite doesn't make a person either rude or stupid.
Thank God for that ! Can I recommend "Wildlife China" just about to start on BBC Four ? Much more interesting than debating transvestism. And the first Martini of the night is coming at 19:00 as well !
Had he been a transsexual in the process of gender reassignment, are we to take it that he could have dressed appropriately for either sex without raising objections on here? If not, which sex's clothing should he have worn?
the palace said his attire was "entirely appropriate", so if the queen is not going to swoon in horror, I don't really see why anyone else needs to do it on her behalf
Something like this harms no-one. If you are offended by people doing something that is part of who they are, part of their identity... Well, it's really your problem and not theirs. The Palace cleared this particular choice of attire, and that ought to be the end of it really. Hooray for Grayson Perry being who he is, and not being afraid of it, nor cowed by the criticism he gets.
