ahem anyway - it doesn't bother me if that's what he's known for however I wouldn't say 'good for him' and I expect the palace reported it entirely appropriate because they wouldn't dare say anything else.

What it seems this boils down to is that people can be free to dress however they like, so long as they don't. That's not really freedom.

It's a sad world in which people aren't really free to be themselves because that's offensive. How do you think that makes such people feel?

but Prudie, they would dare! When you are invited to a Royal event, the dress code is made quite clear. As I said earlier, I am betting that Grayson Perry checked his choice out with the Palace ahead of time.

divebuddy, he certainly dressed in female clothes when appearing in some TV programmes, and I have seen him in his Claire and Bo-Peep dresses on the members' previews at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Don't know where else he goes so attired for events, but get the impression they are numerous; he is better known to the general public for that, I think, than for his pottery or his other art and talks on design

woof I know it is but that wouldn't include cross-dressing eg a woman couldn't go in shorts and a strappy top. I don't believe they would dare stop a man going in entirely appropriate dress for either sex, as they didn't in this case.

Charles did not appear to mind....Perry is synonymous with cross dressing , often in an outrageous manner, this was somewhat subdued by his usual standards....

Britain's most eminent cross-dresser turns up for a Palace investiture in a suitable outfit that matched his prominence as thus.
Thankfully we have such people, who have the courage to follow their convictions so what he wore doubtless didn't come as any shock to Charles.
