No, Paris was nothing to do with gays, but it's all about deflection with these people. They can't bear to admit they're wrong and they always have been wrong. (about everything)
Brilliant.

Muhammad Ali isn't a deflection eh?

You two are priceless...I see bazwillrun's crown has passed on.
And you're in denial. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself. Your support of all things Islam has well and truly blown up in your face.
America must be the best place on the planet to be a terrorist, considering the extreme ease of obtaining weapons.
Or Paris, mikey?
Question Author
sp, your post at 23:14 is a poor attempt at deflection.
SP said // It's going to put a section of the American population in a very difficult position. If it's an Islamic extremist attack on gay people, do they condemn, or do they stay silent?//

Don't see the difficulty hee, Naomi. SP, I tried to explain the correct response of "the section" in my post on the Sharia. Did you understand the point I was making, seeing as how you're usually so quick on the uptake?

Svejk

I don't support Islam...

I only give my views which run counter to what you think.

I genuinely have no issue with Muslims, as long as they have no issue with me.

I have an unbinding hatred of bigots. All bigots, be the Muslims who murder gay people or Russian who enact anti-gay laws, and turn a blind eye to attacks, or Africans who put gay people in jail, or Bible bashers who spread hatred of gays through the Deep South.

But over and above that - me and you will never see eye to eye on this, because you are absolutely sure that I'm a hypocrite (which given my AB history is understandable...and I think that now bazwillrun has been dumped, you have taken the lead in a certain category of AB poster.

Let's just say that I think we both have an equal disregard for each other's views.

I think that pretty much sums it up.
naomi24

Weird how you don't cite -Talbot-'s post at 19:12 as deflection.

Why is that?

Is that because some deflections are more deflecty than others?
I have an unbinding hatred of bigots. All bigots,

That is clearly untrue, sp.
I hope Baz hasn't gone. He was one of the good guys.
naomi24

I assume you didn't realise that -Talbot- was the one who brought Muhammed Ali into the debate, right?

...and that my post at 23:14 was a reference to that deflection.

Or have I misunderstood?
Svejk

Yes...it looks like the AB Editor finally had enough of him.

From what I understand, he'd had a few warnings over the years.

Shame really.

Maybe, maybe not. I can only speak as I find. I try to be as honest as I can on AB. But let's not make this about me (again). We can if you want, but I suspect that others might get a bit bored with these threads turning into the world's least interesting MMA fight.
You brought Trump into the debate, sp.

Here's why I mentioned Ali.

Yep...I referenced that a bit earlier.

The whole 'reap what they sow' stuff is going to come bubbling up from some quarters.

It would not have happened after Paris. It would not have happened after Brussels. It will happen after Orlando, because there are people who genuinely hate gay people. This piece of filth who carried out the murders is one.

But there are others.
Debates always drift off either slightly or entirely from the OP. I'm guessing you are uncomfortable with the truth about Ali, how much did you actually know about Ali before you decided to use him as your avatar?
-Talbot-

No.

I think you're misunderstood here.

At 19:12, you brought Muhummed Ali into the debate, and then at 23:14 I stated that this was a deflection.

naomi24 is very keen to point out deflections, but she failed to see yours...understandable in a thread this long.

Why you now bring up Trump is anyone's guess.
erm...

sp1814
Trump would need to expand his brief, as the terrorist wasn't a Muslim who came to the US, so his immigration ban on Muslims would not have stopped this.
-Talbot-

Hey - it wasn't me who started talking about deflection.

Regarding Muhammed Ali...you know what? No-one is perfect. None of our heroes are...Churchill was a racist, Kennedy and Martin Luther King was a philanderer. I'm sure that you could dig up something fairly unsavoury about Mother Theresa if you dogged deeply enough.

But if you're going to look at homophobes - Ali wasn't even in the same league as say, Anita Bryant, Robert Mugabe, Ronald Reagan, Jerry Falwell, Mahmoud Ahmadinejador or Mel Gibson.
