The only verified statement we have is that he had been suspected by the FBI of having links to Islamic extremists – who happen to hate western values and western liberalism in all forms. Perhaps this madman decided that by attacking a gay nightclub he was achieving a double-whammy - but it certainly wasn't all about homophobia.

My reference to IS is brand new ground. I'm no longer referring to the motive that the attacker had, but whether IS can be trusted to confirm whether they are involved.
Also, when someone concedes that an argument cannot be won, it's classy to agree and let it lie, rather than extending the same argument beyond its natural conclusion...which is what I was trying to provide.
