If SP had read my earlier posts he would know that sodomy is not only a sin, but a crime punishable by death under most forms of Islamic law.

Wiki:

" In Afghanistan, Brunei, Iran, Mauritania, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Yemen, homosexual activity carries the death penalty".
I wonder why he can't this.
...why he can't see this.

He knows - but in my opinion he's between a rock and a hard place. I’ll repeat my post at 22:57 yesterday.

“SP said // It's going to put a section of the American population in a very difficult position. If it's an Islamic extremist attack on gay people, do they condemn, or do they stay silent?//

…. And [Muhammed] Ali puts SP in a similar position. Does he support Ali because Ali is black, or does he keep quiet because Ali was a homophobic racist? A bit of a dilemma.”
But SP claims to be against ignorance and bigotry wherever it is found, Naomi.

As I said, it's a dilemma. ;o)
at the moment, all we've got is a massacre of 50 people and the maiming of as many more, in a nightclub that was known as part of the Orlando LGBT scene, by a lone gunman who although of afghan descent, was born in New York and is an american citizen.

any more than that is still speculation. it's said that the gunman called 911 and swore alliegance to IS; but no-one has confirmed that definitely. IS have claimed responsibility but then, it's in the interests of their prestige to be associated with what has become a successful outrage. Terrorism is about communication, of course they'll claim it for themselves; but the only sure way of knowing what the perpetrator's motive was (according to the experts) is if he left a video setting out his intentions, as Siddique Khan did prior to 7/7.
Talking about this on the Daily Politics, tax dodging Labour Peer and MP, Margaret Hodge, denied we had any problems with Islamic extremists in the UK, saying, 'Every time I visit the mosques in my constituency, I've got eight you know, (lol) I ask the Imams 'do you have any trouble with radicalisation at this mosque?'
' Here, Margaret, nah, nothing like that going on here' they say.
So there you have it. We can all relax. Margaret's 'on it'. ;-)
Question Author
Pathetic isn't she.
Wiki says that the club is mainly frequented by Latino - maybe the gunman was a racist.

It is very sad.

Well summarised.

Actually, let me take that back...superbly summarised.

You're like the new Oneyedvic (only 'old school' AB contributors might get that reference)

That's right, sp. He's a racist now. Wouldn't be surprised to find out he was a Trump inspired racist. That should do it.

The FBI have confirmed it.

Why to some people try so hard to detach atrocities such as this from Islam?
Margaret Hodge is good at doing that sort of thing. I loathe that woman with a passion but then I have a long memory about some things.

Care in the community?
Yes v_e (forgive me - your screen name is a nightmare).

Under Islamic law sodomy is punishable by death, but that being the case - surely all Islamic states should have that on the statute books?

And here's another anomaly - are there any Christian-dominated countries who have death sentences, or extremely long prison sentences for gay people?

And is it not true that there are other areas where whilst gay people aren't jailed or executed, the state collides with bigots to ensure that their lives are blighted? For instance, laws which allow gay people to be sacked for being gay?

Laws that prohibit the 'promotion' of homosexuality?

Laws that prohibit same sex couples for having their relationship recognised?

Laws that prohibit same sex couples from adopting?

All these are much less draconian than what we see in Africa, Russia and the Middle East, but it's astonished how certain people who claim to stand shoulder to should with gay people suddenly swap sides when it comes to real equal rights that affected millions across the Western world.

I think it might be essentially because certain people want gay people to support them, but essentially, it's a one way street.

I might be wrong though...just my impression.
A message to SP and friends from:

Apologies.

You might have a point there v_e.

Is it okay to refer to you as v_e by the way.
