People who may want to boycott this store are probably the ones that see yet another nail being hammered into the British Culture and a step further to Sharia law.

Clearly it is not right-on to say so but people have different opinions that are just as valid as those on here who still take the scoff scoff snort snot attitude.

Will I boycott it no, I dont shop there anyway. If I did would I boycott it - yes I would.

I think they do. Not the head-choppy suicide bomber type but the insidious creep of this sort of political statement.
The compulsory introduction of halal food in prisons, etc.
The wearing of unhygienic clothing in hospitals.
Councils that stop serving pork products to our children in case a Muslim child is contaminated.
All supported by, I'm sure, well meaning people but a slippery, one way, slope to me.

The only thing that I am aware of taking the stance of an intolerant bigot about - is alcohol, which I abhor, and would ban off the planet tomorrow.

But that is entirely a point of view that is utterly at odds with any scintilla of practical application, so it is taken with a wry smile, and goes no further.

Compare that with an attitude that matches what is seen as 'creeping Islamisation' with an attitude of creeping bigotry and religious persecution - nothing to smile about there.

One what basis? For those that already wear hijabs I am sure they don't have any trouble finding them to wear. All Debenhams are doing is offering a more colourful option in the hope to gain a share of the market.
Maybe Debenhams are also hoping some non-Muslims may buy them as just a fashion item. Maybe you are worried that wearing them will lead to some nonMuslims being converted into jihadists.

First of all, I didn't 'demand' anything in my letter (kind of you to remember, this was years ago!) and secondly, I don't personally equate something which people choose to wear for religious reasons with something which could very possibly cause upset and offence.

You could argue that the hijab possibly causes upset and offence, but I would seriously struggle to find an argument supporting that view.
