So, in effect, two people needed at that till!
Can't see Aldi sticking with that policy
It is up to her to get a job that she can do, as it is for all of us.
This is being defended by some solely because it involves a Muslim. A white strict catholic girl working in Boots who refused to sell condoms wouldn't get a look in - but then she'd be sensible enough to not work there in the first place.
And what would happen if all the till operators on that day were Muslim?

Sorry no alcohol today as we don't want to touch your devil drinks. Go to Lidl instead.
My local supermarket puts a similar sign up when the till operative is under 18. As long as the sign is clearly visible so that I don't waste time queuing when I have alcohol I don't see the problem - it can be an advantage when I don't want to buy alcohol and can be whizzed through the 'no alcohol' checkout.
Always thought that Jesus Christ turned water into wine.
often wondered if he ever drank any of it !!! .
I'm sure He did, gulliver :)
Another case of I'll try this & see If I win another point for the Muslims, it's glass she's touching not the contents.
Regarding under 18 cashiers, in every supermarket I've been in when I've bought alcohol they just shout to the (older) cashier at the next till that they're serving alcohol, and that person says "ok" and that's it. Never seen a sign saying you can't purchase drink from a young cashier.

If I'd queued and found I couldn't pay for my drinks because the cashier was a strict Muslim, I'd probably lose patience and leave the trolley behind. Not a good business plan by Aldi.
In my local Sainsbury store, the lady who always stocks up the alcohol shelves is a Muslim, wears the hijab matching her uniform and obviously has no problem whatsoever handling and dealing with the product.
Let's be honest one of the few reasons people go to Aldi is it's cheap booze. They won't be able to sustain that if they have (shall we say) troublesome staff. If I was on the Aldi recruiting team I'd think very carefully in future about who I employ
Not all Muslims are the same, horselady. My corner shop is owned and run by a Muslim family and sell alcohol, bacon and pork sausage and the local 'Indian' restaurant is owned and run by Bangladesh Muslims - they serve alcohol, too
Yes that's true hc4361, I didn't really think that through did I? Of course loads of shops like that are run by Muslim families.
So why employ one that refuses to sell alcohol when there are plenty who will?

There are Muslims working in any number of supermarkets and some employees are more strict their beliefs than others. Has any of the major supermarkets suffered a downturn in its share of the market because they allow muslims to refuse to handle haram products?
Is the best candidate for a job the candidate willing to serve all goods or some of the goods?

@09.32 I have had the decency in previous posts to use yours at least return the favour and use mine!
I didn't think that handling alcohol was against the Islamic teachings.
Alcohol is banned in Saudi Arabia by custom, rather than religion.
Catholic midwives have to attend abortions.
Aldi should sack her.
"" catholic midwives have to attend abortions "? Do they ?
Not in Ireland or Northern Ireland they don't as they are banned by the state - they won't even carry one out to save a life!!
