"While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 grands prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms," Bratches added.

Do you agree or not , with the move ?

Should the ban be extended to other Motor Sports formulas ?

Has a single one of you new puritans watched the Arianna Grande video I posted? Can any one of you new puritans tell me why that video and all the others like it should not be banned as "demeaning to women"? If an F1 grid girl is so out of kilter with the new "societal norms" you new puritans are determined to impose on the rest of us then please explain how a girl being humped over a photocopier (for the "entertainment" of the twelve year old girls and fourteen year old boys who are her fan base?) is consistent with it.
Also explain why a girl in a mini skirt is bad and something in a burqa is good.
I say, ban the cars and keep the girls.
why would I want to watch an Arianna Grande video? Just so I can be offended? Isn't seeking out offence supposed to be a bad thing?
What's the difference between today's new Puritan and the older ones?

Four hundred years.

What's the difference between tomorrow's new Puritan and the oldest ones?

Fourteen hundred years.
i am amazed this subject is still being discussed
If I watch F1, it is to see who gets round the track fastest and best.
I find all the assertions from the (mostly) men that they are simply championing a woman's right to wear what she wants......somewhat unbelievable, if I'm honest.

There's nothing wrong with admiring an attractive girl who is dressed to attract such attention. It's just that trying to justify that it has any sort of place at sporting events rings a little hollow.

Newmanesque, isn't it, (well, it's from a Newman clone): "So, what you're saying is...".

No, I (for one) am not "championing" or "justifying" anything, I'm saying if a pretty girl wants to parade around in a mini-skirt at an F1 event it's none of your damn business.

That's the trouble with puritans (new and old): can't keep their noses out of other people's affairs.

Yet another Newmanism.

I don't give a damn about the Arianna Grande video, but somebody who's upset by a grid girl ought to be.

The supply of clowns is endless.
Correction: ...supply of clones...

> Globalisation means adapting your practices to those of the countries you want as customers, who are, as ever, always right.

I mostly disagree, especially when those practices are medieval, but that's where the discussion should have been at ...
"Newmanesque, "Newmanism" ! this thread could go down in history as the place where new English adjectives were coined, unless v_e, you refer to the Cardinal.

That's it.
and do you know what? they can. They just can't get paid to do it as a grid girl. However, spectators arefree to wear what they want
Newman? Cardinal?

Yes, let's talk about the lobster...
//...they can. They just can't...//

Say no more.
except i did say more. I said they can nolonger get paid for doing soat F1 events. F1 is not telling women how to dress
actually, i realise i know little about grid girls - what do they do? what valuable service do they perform?
eye candy, bednobs. Their duties could indeed have been performed in a burqa (not that I advocate this), but for some reason they never were

This is what they do

Puritans,Newmanisms and Lobsters - it's like walking into a nether world.
