On the subject of education, this is the story of Ray Honeford to whom Jourdain has alluded:

andy, as I said, I don't know for sure (but I do know that Bradford city has a massive preponderance of Pakistanis - because that's the predominate nationality of foreigners- and it is reflected in the city administration) without CCTV in each classroom - who is to know?
I won't, however, speak of what I do not know. I know that the English language has been minimised in many areas. It is not acceptable that we were instructed to accept other languages in the classroom. English only should be the rule - except, of course in foreign language lessons.
Thanks v-e.
ladybirder, it doesn't surprise me, but thank you.
It's not race or skin colour, it is Muslims.

Is he wrong?
Not in my eyes. The fact that they’re of Asian descent and brown(ish) is purely coincidental.
No he's not wrong.

Oh no! you don't get away with it like that; that dubious accolade goes entirely to you (16:21 Sat.).

My post was a specific point, yours was a sweeping generalisation - let me know if you need the difference explained, always happy to help.
Naomi - // Is he wrong? //

Of course he's wrong, it's the equivalent of saying, It's not rapists, it's men.

You can't condemn an entire swathe of peaceful people because of the actions of a few psychopaths, it has no reasonable logic.
andy-hughes, he hasn’t condemned an entire swathe of peaceful people. The men who are doing this are overwhelmingly Muslim and there is ‘no reasonable logic’ in denying that. Had you watched the video you would have known that during his investigations that admirable reporter sought a common factor. Guess what he found?

Incidentally, these men aren’t psychopaths. Their religious culture is responsible for their beliefs. I hesitate to say it yet again, but learn about Islam and whilst you’re at it learn about what is being taught in Islamic schools not only abroad but in this country too.
IMO they will of course continue to abuse any women..it's what they do..... Women are chattels to some races/creeds... But IMO NOT INOUR COUNTRY. Men will exploit...it's been so since day one. Education does nowt....it's human nature u fortunately... The skumm and filth will survive. Good is never at the front of things..evil wins IMO. How horrendous it that!
There's a particular name for this kind of sexual exploitation, I think. Do the experts call it "localised grooming" (as opposed to, say, internet grooming, familial rape etc.)? Maybe someone can correct or confirm that.

Anyway, various comments on this thread prove the point Norfolk was making - that the obvious connection between the gangs has been and still is being consistently ignored, treated as irrelevant, or, in the case of the blind, denied..

From the OP:

" the abusers ...came from a diverse range of backgrounds including Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian, Iranian, Iraqi, Kurdish, Turkish, Albanian and Eastern European".

Perfectly true, but not from a diverse range of religions[i. Not all Muslims are not rapists, but (with the exception of the case documented on East Enders a few years ago) most of this type of rapist are Muslim.

Now, if the gangs were made up almost exclusively of Mormons or Methodists, everybody, I repeat, [i]everybody] would be asking "What is it about Methodism/Mormonism which explains this?". (Anybody going to tell me I'm wrong about that?) I fully allow that the connection could turn out to be accidental and that the unifying factor lies outside the religious culture. But that answer could only be determined as the result of a proper enquiry, not in advance of one.
There is another issue with the grooming gangs: how many men were/are involved?

The Jay report into the Rotherham scandal published in 2013 stated that at least 1,400 girls were victims between 2007 and 2013 - although the BBC (I think it was) reported only last week that one crime agency had upped that to 1,500.

The 2011 census showed that the population of Rotherham was just over 250,000, of whom 3.7 were Muslim. That makes the total male Muslim population of Rotherham then less than five thousand.

Yes these men are overwhelmingly Muslim, but my point is, to hang their damnation on that aspect tars all Muslims with the same brush, and that is not reasonable or accurate.
andy-hughes, what do you want us to do? Neglect to acknowledge the one glaring common denominator? Would that be reasonable? As v_e says, if this behaviour were that of, say, the Mormons or the Methodists, wouldn’t we be sensible to acknowledge that and to ask why?
I don’t think anyone has said that it tars all Muslims with the same brush. But it is an inescapable fact that they all were / are.

Who is this 'us' you have appointed yourself to speak for?

For the record, I don't want 'you' to do anything, thanks.
