Ladybirder, in that case I’ll watch it. Thanks for letting me know.

andy-huges, //twisting their religious teachings into a belief system that allows them to abuse women without a scintilla of guilt.//

They don't twist it ... but then you've been told that before - countless times.

//You know as well as I do that the Muslim faith does not instruct abuse,//

But you clearly don’t know … because it does - and you've been told that before - countless times.

I'm bored with this regular nonsensical merry-go-round with you so for the time being I'll take Ladybirder's very sensible advice.
As Andy said to Spath: "There, that's you told!!

I did try to warn you ...

Guess you're on the Ignorant Step with me then ......"

Room for me too, please - might as well present an easy target for the White Van Sisters (and Brothers).

bainbrig, going by what you've written on the subject, you'll be in appropriate company.

If I want you to talk down to me, and educate me about things that you have decided - on no evidence whatsoever - that you know more about that I do, I will ask you, but don't hold your breath.

I can tolerate a lot in life - being patronised by humourless Enid Blyton personalities is not one of them

Naomi is all-inclusive, she'll talk down to anybody!
andy-hughes, //being patronised by humourless Enid Blyton personalities is not one of them//

Oops! I'm pretty sure that would be considered rude - and I know how you hate to break the rules regarding rudeness.

You are confusing me - again - with someone who cares what you think.

Since you seem to think that not reporting posts gives you some sort of noble badge of courage, I imagine my point will stand, but as I said, I don't really care either way.
Spath - // I wasn't meaning what I was saying, i was simply showing you how categorising a religion from a minute few looks quite silly //

It's Islam you are talking about, and there are a select few on here who are allowed to know everything about it, and the rest are ignorant fools to be pitied and patronised.

Guess what, I'm not one of the select few!

Oh, and another thing - you're not one either!!
andy-hughes, // I imagine my point will stand//

You haven't made a point. You've simply resorted to rudeness again... a regular feature of your inability to conduct a civilised discussion.

I haven't 'made a point' - because you say so?

Wise up - you don't make the rules of debate.

I am tired of being patronised and talked down to by you, calling my posts 'silly' and tutting at my ignorance, and telling me to learn this, and that.

As I said, if I feel that I need educating, I will make that decision, and I will decide where I will go for it, and to whom I will listen.

I shall no longer be exchanging posts with you - you can go and patronise and belittle someone else - and heaven knows, you have 99% of the Answerbankers to choose from - who don't see the world as you do, and need to be 'educated'.
andy-hughes, //I shall no longer be exchanging posts with you //

Oh happy day! :o))))
Do you think he means it though naomi ???
I'll say this again on here, Naomi studies religion that's why she knows what she's talking about. It is her abiding passion.
I hope so HIA;-)
hereIam, one can hope. :o)

Ladybirder, thank you.

Deluded, I tell you....
What was that Michael Jackson song again?
//i was simply showing you how categorising a religion from a minute few looks quite silly//

I certainly agree with you on that, Spathiphyllum. And I dare so everyone else does too.

But I disagree with you (rather strongly, in fact) that the grooming gangs represent a "minute" few, or even a "few" of the Muslim men in their areas.

Do you think it would be a good idea to get some hard facts, if we can, in order to assess just how many men were involved in these crimes? If so, and as a starting point, can you tell me what, in your view, constitutes a "minute few"? Not 10%, surely? So, 1 or 2%? Or fewer?

I think I can produce some rough metrics, but, more importantly, some strong inferential evidence to show that the practice was and is far more prevalent than you think.
ladybirder - // I'll say this again on here, Naomi studies religion that's why she knows what she's talking about. It is her abiding passion. //

Studying something does not automatically make you an expert.

Studying anything does not give you a God-given right to talk down to other people because you think their views are 'ignorant'.

Saying that because Naomi 'studies religion, that's why she knows what she is talking about ...' is a nonsensical statement.

There is no evidence whatsoever of what Naomi has 'studied', or where, or any indicvation that she has learned anything from her 'studies'.

Her 'expertise' is entirely self-advertised, you may chose to believe it, I choose not to.

It isbased on her inability to discuss religion without sneering at anyone she thinks knows less than she does - which is almost anyone on here.
