bainbrig, you should apologise to emmie for calling her a liar, however you have proved your point about people coming here not wishing to debate. here's your first contribution to this thread. "Diddly. The proportion is about 80% who don’t give a $h1t, 20% like you (and me) who do. I find it easiest to let the miseries have the run of threads like these, as you...

jim: "If you want to reduce illegal immigration, a good place to start is to focus on improving conditions as much as possible in the countries of origin. " - as far as we are concerned 99.99999% of the time they come from France. Under EUSSR regs they should apply there. What is wrong with France? What do the want so desperately to come to UK? Answers on a post card please to TTT co AB.

for the free ride perhaps, but quite honestly i wonder why they do want to reside here, it's not as though we are the best country in the world, nor the richest.
Question Author
i would rather we helped our neighbours, those too poor to look out for themselves.
They are NOT stupid .They destroy all their papers and ID. They KNOW that if they have no papers or ID, so no way to know for CERTAIN where they came from., they CAN'T be sent back. If we sent them back to France they just try again and again until they get through. Once here they just disappear into the existing migrant community. The artical says that over 60 have already been sent back! it has been estimated that less than 1 in 6 get detected , the rest get in. So they just try again and again until they do get through. There was an interview with one on TV, he admitted he did not get through until his 8th attempt.

/// The artical says that over 60 have already been sent back! ///

What article is that please Eddie?
eddie: "They are NOT stupid .They destroy all their papers and ID. They KNOW that if they have no papers or ID, so no way to know for CERTAIN where they came from., they CAN'T be sent back. " - Cobras, if they arrived on a boat from Calais then we know for certain they came from France, send them back to France, we know at least that much. Hopefully mainland EUSSR will then learn to enforce the only useful law in the entire shambles.
why do they want to come here anyway? France isn't that bad is it? There must be some other incentive, I wonder what that could be!

"Diddly. The proportion is about 80% who don’t give a $h1t, 20% like you (and me) who do. I find it easiest to let the miseries have the run of threads like these, as you ain’t gonna change their minds! They KNOW they are right."
That was a well reasoned beginning to a debate in anybody's book, so let us continue. You say you give a $h1t about these people, would you mind telling us miseries, does this manifest in actual practical help or are you just talking $h1t?
I am shuddering at the utter lack of compassion and humanity being shown towards this wave of undesirable foreign invaders.
diddlydo/bainbrig, Why are we to have compassion? France isn’t such a bad place to live, is it? Of course, the UK is a little better in that benefits are easier to access here – but compassion? Why? What horrors were they suffering in France?

Bainbrig, your inability to conduct a civil conversation exposes you as, among other things, an intellectual lightweight.

Eddie, //So they just try again and again until they do get through.//

I’m not sure what you’re suggesting. That we let them in first time because they’ll only keep trying?
No utter lack of either as far as I can see. Folk are happy for them to stay safe in the first safe country they fled to. But they don't see why this country should be forced to home them simply because they want to grab a share of what we've achieved over the years. That'd just be daft.

apologies for not seeing BB and diddlydo;s way of thinking, but neither have said they would help, if help were needed by these illegal immigrants, so i assume that it's all stuff and nonsense.
OG, if you are responding to my post at 1652, I can't answer you right now as I'm chewing on a tongue sandwich.
Naomi splutters “Bainbrig, your inability to conduct a civil conversation exposes you as, among other things, an intellectual lightweight.“

Yeah, I don’t talk to my neighbour’s pitbull either.
Question Author
strange man BB, you still haven't answered our question would you take in an immigrant, legal or otherwise, because if not, and i suggest most people wouldn't, then its all hot air. I can't blame for being miffed, but you don't need to be so uncivil.
Anyone who pays taxes is helping these poor immigrants who risk their lives in an attempt to reach a safe haven. I'm perfectly happy to pay my share of such taxes. Those of you who aren't similarly willing should be ashamed of yourselves.
According to bainbrig naomi, you do an awful lot of spluttering (lol) !
"Yeah, I don’t talk to my neighbour’s pitbull either."

But is that simply because he doesn't agree with your point of view?
Question Author
most people pay tax in one form or another, but not actually take someone in,
