MP's have just voted down a motion to adjourn for the Tory Party Conference.

More stupidity. Just what is it with these people? The so-called Liberal Democrats have held their seaside get-together and the Labour Party theirs. Why deny the Tories theirs other than to be spiteful. The conferences do nobody any harm (and precious little good other than keeping MPs out of Parliament). It gives politicians and their supporters a little air time. It boosts the economies of the towns where they are held. Quite honestly, giving them three days off is a great benefit to the country as it prevents them from inflicting any further damage on the electorate for a short while.

Childish, puerile nonsense. And they wonder why people have no time for them.

The Tory Party conference is still expected to go ahead in some form between 29 September and 2 October but Parliament will be sitting so it is unclear whether MPs will attend.

I cannot find out who proposed the motion. If the whips do not get a hold, the way the party is at the moment, the conference could end up being a blood bath.

Is this normal practice ? Traditionally do parties not get a recess for that ? I'm not up with the way conferences are normally held.

Danny I also misread the OP thought they wanted to suspend the conference not parliament. Borris has a knack for suspending parliament lol

Must be the first time when MP's of all shades haven't fallen over each other, jumping the gun , to skive off the business they are expected and paid to do by the electorate. Perhaps a group sicky is in order.

OG, yes they normally do get a recession for all parties, but the Supreme Court Ruling has interfered with that.

MPs going back to work resulted in the Labour Party Conference having to be cut short.
Which was a blessing really.
