Here’s what should have happened. Firstly, the man shouldn’t’ve laughed at the coppers. When they were pulled over they should have done as instructed by the the police. The woman shouldn’t’ve gone bananas. Had they acted sensibly they would have been on their way within 5 minutes. I was pulled over last Sept because I was driving in SE London at 3am on the way...

Doesn't do the cop with the baton any good either if he was prepared to smash the window with a baby on board.
____________
He wouldn't know that would he.

And, having watched your link 4 or 5 times - pausing when necessary - Roy, I find it impossible to say whether or not the baby seat is secured or not.

Royfromaus,
This couple were completely innocent.
The suspicion for stopping the car unfounded.
The handcuffing and detaining for 45 minutes unwarranted, they were not charged with anything.
However you try and dress it up, it was all a cock up, egg on faces, and a downright embarrassment to the Met.

The crying baby is irrelevant, apart from the emotive "ah, bless" element. What is of importance is the screaming and uncooperative behavior of the adult(s) when asked to pull over. Yes, they might have not been involved in any unlawful activity; however, that's all in retrospect. Are you suggesting, Gromit, that the police cannot act upon the belief that they suspect a crime has been committed or is about to be committed?
// Imagine the situation without the fuss and screaming. //
You mean imagine a Policeman at your car window not threatening to smash your window in with a truncheon. Not dragging you out of the car without explanation and handcuffing you. Not drug testing you despite you asking him to do so, and then *** off offering no apology for detaining you for an hour.
Yep that is how the Police Service should be run. Not an out if control mob we seem to have now.

I was pulled over last Sept because I was driving in SE London at 3am on the way to pick up a mate en route to Heathrow. I was stopped, asked a few questions, proved my identity and was sent on my way. 5 mins tops.

I've been stopped and followed many times, especially if driving 'fancy' cars. Was always happening in the wifes XR3i if I took it up North. Get followed now, even though I am 60 as I have a BMW with blacked out windows, which apparently is favoured by drug dealers especially in South London.
It happens, the clue is dont shout at the police. Be co-0perative (whilst never admitting to anything) and you will be on your way. The Police are not interested in wasting time on you if you are innocent, they want a collar so want to be on their way too.
And on the subject of drugs, I'm not sure its a goog idea to claim you are mates with someone involved in the past with them. Seems reasonable cause in itself!
