Will this be the norm going forward?

There should be no excuse for people not getting jabs, unless for medical reasons. I think Employers have every right to insist that employees have had their inoculations , if not, no job.

no because we READ the article we have cited and find
Employment lawyers said the plan carried risks for the business.
oh sozza you mean is this become the norm for TTT to cast his net widely, make something up, put in a bit of rhyming slang and mis-spell human rights?
it always was ma'am
more seriously hahahaha o god I cant believe what I write sometimes, it will be the firing for not having vacca, rather than the rehiring, which will cause the trouble
it wont be reasonable to fire people for not having it

Just wait a few months for one of the variants to cause further and even greater problems and it will start to become the norm I feel.
What will happen when people start to look nervously around on a plane when someone starts coughing and sweating and looking feverish? General paranoia and fear at football stadiums and music venues will no doubt bring about a change in the future.
I would look at Australia and New Zealand and see what their plans will be because they seem to lead the way and have mostly dealt with it all in a proper fashion and do not muck about over sensibilities when it comes to this sort of thing

As long as employers can reasonably argue that 'all else is equal' when selecting from a group which candidate to hire, or which current employee to make redundant when cuts are demonstrably required then they are on pretty safe ground. Firing because of no jab is a different animal within - current - employment laws and would depend on the strength of the argument for making it mandatory, and the employees reasons for not having one.

Stickybottle, compare the populations of Australia & New Zealand with ours
Population size is not a factor in this story it is about how governments and employers will form their strategy and I’ll bet the Aussies and Kiwis get it right and will not pander to sensibilities they will just do what is right and proper and needed

what happens in care homes where some of the staff haven't been vaccinated according to BBC news the other day, they are short staffed as it is many of these places, if you get rid of those who won't have the vaccine, who will replace them
Plenty who have been furloughed and made redundant will be more than happy to replace them and I would advise that if anyone wants to take steps to keeping their job or looking for one in the future that they get the vaccine when offered

they have indeed got the virus under control in their countries. but their borders have effectively become sealed, and will remain so for the forseeable. the second they reopen them, the virus will flood back in, for even the vaccinated can carry the virus, can be infectious and will infect. perhaps the crucifixion of their tourist industry, and the holding of their citizens in effective house arrest are the acceptable price of control.....

stickybottle: "Population size is not a factor in this story it is about how governments and employers will form their strategy and I’ll bet the Aussies and Kiwis get it right and will not pander to sensibilities they will just do what is right and proper and needed " - Rubbish, ridiculous thing to say.
