Isn't Boris right when he says the general public don't give a toss about how it's re-furbished?
Isn't this the MSM (& Starmer) trying to make something out of nothing?

Emmie, taking your view that we the tax payer should fund the decorating and furnishing of no.9 , roughly how much should we ( the taxpayer) give this couple x child for said refurbishment ? Would the amount include tradesmen?
who gives a Rat's April how he tonsed up his drum. There are more important things on the Agenda.
I would get an estimate for any decorating that the PM thought reasonable and submit it to parliament for their approval or not.
Danny that would be sensible.
anne personally if he wanted to fit it out with all furnishings included
i would spend a lot on it, if they are going to live there full time, then it must be to one's taste.
I see you would Danny, sensible option . Did Boris do that ?
frankly Labour should be more concerned about how they are going to win an election before 50 years since the last one elapses and having a hissy fit at the PMs gaff ain't gonna do that.

39 000 - labour and materials - sez who? - some civil servant in some paper

yes i guess it would include tradesmen, they must have a team who do the restorations, decorations on these old buildings. i am not going to give a set figure, as i don't know the property or what Boris wanted to do with it. We do pay for many things that we might consider foolish, but this is the PM, and his little family, and quite frankly i think the whole thing is absurd.
Labour making hay whilst the sun shines...
Anne // Did Boris do that ?//
Not as far as I am aware. If he had then this forore would not have occurred.
we don't know anne, as one isn't privy to the PM flat.
It’s true emmie, you are not privy to his flat ( Boris) but happy to throw money at it . I think you would cope admirable in a dictatorship country. ;-)
I would be willing to bet Boris wouldn't have bothered about doing up the flat. It's all Carrie's work seems to me. It's horrible imo.
When putting the finishing touches he vos only obeying borders.
anne: "I think you would cope admirable in a dictatorship country. ;-)" - well you're the expert there sweetie!
TTT,@13.52. would you have said the same if Starmer had been P.M.? no doubt I'll get a reply along the lines of "No chance, never won an Election in 50 years" forgetting the Labour win under Blair. and no,I have no Political leanings either way.
Its a council property paid for by HA. (luv the acronym haha). Boris, as tenant, can decorate so long as no structure is damaged.
but we don't live under a dictatorship anne, and yes i believe the country as a whole can pick up the tab. it wouldn't mean more than a fraction on the tax bill, after all as i said we pick up the tab for the RF. who quibbles about that.
well anti monarchists do i guess.....
phew Emmie , saved yourself a backlash there haha ( re our royals)
Everhelpful: "TTT,@13.52. would you have said the same if Starmer had been P.M.?" - Yes because I don't give a rats April how they decorate their pads. When St Tony's mob was spending £6k on a roll of wallpaper or Mandy borrowed £400k off a party donor for a house I said nowt because it's just what they do, they all do it. Glass houses etc.
