Do those at Westminster really care so little about us? Nobody wants another lockdown but with the rising numbers.................. Yes, I do know it's the Daily Wail!
the only reason they are not doing a lockdown now is to prevent the government from being embarrassed... f.t. was reporting a few days ago that a "circuit-breaker" was being proposed for after christmas... i.e. when it's pointless!
Well hat confirms we need to define lockdown. Close pubs and cinemas theatres? Close public transport? Ban family get-togethers for Xmas lunch? Only for unvaxxed or for all?
It's pointless speculating when we can mean such diffren t things.
Shouldn't families be trusted to follow advice on lft tests... masks ...ventilation ...minimising numbers... before we start making it illegal to visit granny etc
since when has it been the govt's job to care about the populace?
I'd rather have a govt that made good decisions about the majority of things in its populace's best interests that one that cared about me
//Do those at Westminster really care so little about us? //
That sounds pathetic. They're not targeting you, Maggie, You're not a victim. They'll do what they think is necessary - whether we think it is or not - and whatever they do will apply to everyone, including them and their families.
I'm afraid the truth is that the PM appears scared to sound too much of a warning note. or to take any firmer measures for fear of upsetting even more the backbenchers who have deserted him.
Any more debates in a recalled Parliament would highlight the responsible attitude of the Labour (but not rather shamefully the Lib Dems). And the irresponsible one of many of his own party.
Except I am wrong of course, because that would be playing politics and only Labour does that?
I don't know whether a lockdown is a good idea or not, but in the interests of making a case for the defence, the fear is not about current figures but what might happen, and acting to prevent future rises.
You may or may not think that that is sensible but that is the thinking.
Boris’ MO is to dither. He has done it throughout the pandemic. Do the right thing in the end, but too late.
The timing of further restrictions is a political decision not a medical one, with the consequences that entails.
because doing it after christmas will mean introducing it after the new variant has already spread massively due to holiday gatherings... the only reason they're not doing it now is for politics.
Boris will delay any new rules he may have in mind until after Xmas day. In the meantime Sadjid Javid will continue to pull the threat lever of ( we are not ruling anything out) this in turn will send people rushing for the vaccine to save their Xmas day :0)
"Lockdowns" dont work and unless (true) deaths or (true) hospitalisations increase dramatically then all it serves to do is trash the economy.
Easy for all those that wont loos their job or have any financial discomfort to call for them. But some on here might do well tom remember your triple lock can be stopped again to help pay.
//The truth is the government don't know what to do, neither does anyone else here in the UK or in any other country.//
Well thats not true is it. The SA lass for a start seems to know, as she should having been through it.
