What has happened to it? These were year 6 pupils who will probably have the vote (in Scotland they would have anyway). Are schools not supposed to teach politics as part of the wider curriculum in eg Modern Studies?

There is nothing wrong in pupils being taught about how politics works, but it is wrong when they are led to follow a particular cause.

foo or crikey - I am not sure what it is....It would have to cover failed economic experiments 1920-1990 in Eastern Europe

1844 condition of the working class in 1844 ( Engels) is a good read for what it is - a description of the industrial cities in er 1844. Good for Clarion St as it describes the quarter bordered by Oldham Rd and gt Ancoats St - not sure what the theory is behind it
