It seems that any suspicion gives banks the right to close accounts, without explanation, to avoid risk, even when such suspicion/risk seems ridiculously small and remote. That seems wrong. Obviously society shouldn't tip off the bad guys that they are under suspicion, but one wonders what society thinks closing the accounts of everyone around them...

Fascinating.
You can be incredibly childish when you’re backed into a corner, Naomi.
‘ The seven that have rejected his business certainly have no evidence’. Another of Naomi’s opinions dressed as fact.

nooooo
we read about MLRs and we learn that Banks may close accounts quite lawfully, to avoid their own involvement ( fines for money laundering)
and we learn that if you are unlucky - you may be put on a dont-touch-this-man list. It is quite possible that this has occurred here.

as in the long long threads on the Privileges committee, it is not a criminal process and hearsay rules dont apply.

David Davis ( con) is the one who read out the report - the bit that The Nige had recd half a mill, and not a monkey. So even if it IS repeated outside the commons it is still privileged.

David Davis is he one who read the original report on the London bombings 2005- which began - "went the day quite well". Davis said that the report was so awful that it wd all have to be done again - Hallett inquiry

"A leading building society has revealed that it closes customers’ accounts if they engage in “rude” or “discriminatory” behaviour.

The Yorkshire Building Society made the admission after claims that it severed ties with a client who questioned the use of Pride flags in their branches.

It comes amid a growing row over whether banks are targeting people for their political beliefs after Nigel Farage revealed his account was recently shuttered."

Today's Telegraph.

SAY NO TO WOKE!
Listen to Nigel.
In the video he says that he will appear later the same day on GB news and explain further (or words to that effect) but I can’t find anything on this. Can anyone else?
Surely Naomi can
I'll tell you what's incredible, he's only 59.
I’d be happy for anyone to find it tbh.
The fact that I can’t (find it) seems to indicate the even GB news might have thought it a bad idea to let him speak further on the subject.
Doesn't seem to want to start.

Zacs-master; The video in the OP was made last Thursday 29th of June.
Farage says he will speak later that day on GB News, on his spot at 7.00 pm. which he did (as reported above) & he had with him as a special guest Toby Young of the Free Speech Union, raising during the interview the case of the man in my previous post today, whose bank account was closed because he questioned why they had Gay Pride flags in all their branches.
Thanks, Naomi. He doesn’t really say anything new apart from he’s going away to think about it. He’s still moaning that people used to have a right to have a bank account. As I’ve said before, if we were still in the EU he would still have that right:
https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/financial-products-and-services/bank-accounts-eu/index_en.htm#:~:text=Right%20to%20a%20basic%20bank%20account,-You%20may%20want&text=If%20you%20are%20legally%20resident,where%20the%20bank%20is%20established.
//"A leading building society has revealed that it closes customers’ accounts if they engage in “rude” or “discriminatory” behaviour. The Yorkshire Building Society made the admission after claims that it severed ties with a client who questioned the use of Pride flags in their branches. //

The irony there is that the bank is discriminating.

Zacs-Master; Isn't simpler to change the UK law, (which being able to is a benefit of leaving the EU & which is being now done in many other areas) than rejoining the EU & being dictated to by the Brussels/Strasbourg bureaucracy?
Where have I said we should rejoin the EU, Khandro?
// A leading building society has revealed that it closes customers’ accounts if they engage in “rude” or “discriminatory” behaviour. ... Yorkshire Building Society made the admission ...//

It's not exactly that shocking a revelation, surely? It's in the T&Cs of most banks, and was one of the reasons given that I deleted as (presumably) irrelevant in Farage's case. Since it's uncontroversial that a bank's employees deserve to be treated with respect, I don't find it surprising that if they find that a given customer did not, then that customer would soon find their account closed.
AB ignorance in full swing I see
The irony there is that the bank is discriminating.
yes
there is discrimination that is lawful - nay required - consent to sex springs to er some minds - opening a bank acct occurs to me. Ownership of land as a minor - has to be as a trust

and discrimination that the law proscribes - race religion age etc

bu we really always knew that innit - we were just teasing.

My bank when I can find one ( hur hur hur) has the warning about swearing at staff, elegantly sellotaped to the wall.
Apparently the EU are considering passing laws making it a legal right for citizens to be able to hold/open a bank account – perhaps Farage will be campaigning to re-join the EU, come the referendum.
