Seems like Britain is having trouble ruling the waves these days.

Aircraft carriers breaking down and having to return to port from NATO exercises Submarines that can't fire missiles as they go plop into the sea ..And Now a fresh embarrassment as HMS QE catches fire while it was in dock being repaired.Bet NATO and Putin are laughing their socks off.

Sheer complexity? No holes below water level, if so, oh god sea water ingress, salt water rust. Money tight, BQ value silicon, repaint, see North sea oil rig advice for paint protection.:0) Complexity of shaft.Must go round and round even, level and in a straight line, must add common but BIG bearings well greased at all times., must be able to go forward or...

Yes...that may be what the person who asked you the question thought. I could have have told them you wouldn't give a sensible answer

newmodarmy, why would you expect gulliver, or anyone else, to answer their own questions?

The striking thing is the number of posts from others that also don't answer the question.

Why didn't those grinning pair of Idiots Sunak and Hunt spend more on defence ..which would have made them more popular with the electorate ..Instead of letting the Con Cronies trouser the tax payers money.

The OP is a serious insight into the UK defence mechanisms and equipment or the lack of, along with its performance, or the lack of. There are many people including MPs who are concerned about the above and in turn express their opinions in the way they see fit. The HMS QE is a very important expensive war ship that has so far been a big let down to the point of being unable to carry out any duties at see.

Costing 3.5 billion to build and still costing massive amounts of money to carry out repairs, every tax payer if they care to has a right to complaine. Lots of posts not relating to the subject / topic?

// Lots of posts not relating to the subject / topic?.. //

I assume the nonsence about cardboard cut outs on the deck is included in that comment?

Its about the OP not the poster. MPs very offten make remarkes along these lines in the HOC and on media tv. No interest in the OP then just move to what you may be interesed in.

nicebloke1, are these the same repairs that "Babcock has been largely responsible for the shaft repairs under a 10-year support agreement signed in 2022" or are these different ones.

Cont above. Cardboard cutouts of planes have been used before in world war 2.

10.24 I have no idea. What I do see is a crippled brand new warship that has basic engineering problems that it shouldn't have. Computer / electronic clitches i could accept.

Mr NiceBloke 10.26 Reckon there are few Blue cardboard cut outs in the commons, and even more so in the HOL lol🤣

Even Grant Shapps the Defence Secretary wrote to Hunt in the run up to the Budget calling for him to increase spending on defence but was rebuffed by Hunt. And they are both fellow Cons

8 million a day for immigrants, but theres no money for defence, that makes complete sense? :0)

Nicebloke - That's deriding a set of complex problems by simplifying them into an invalid equation.

I'm sure everyone in government wishes it was that easy!

//newmodarmy, why would you expect gulliver, or anyone else, to answer their own questions?//

I've no idea what prompted that statement, jno.  I never said gulliver or anyone should answer their own questions.
